(EN) Christmas is the celebration in which the divine nature is incarnated in the human nature. God comes to us so that we can come to God. The divine becomes humanized, so that humanity becomes divinized. God becomes human, revealing to us that the divine is present in the human condition. May this Christmas and new year bring us the strength to become more humane, in solidarity with the poor and recognizing that Jesus was born in Bethlehem and must be born in our hearts too. (EN) All four weeks of Advent we have been waiting and praying for the coming blessing of Christmas. And now Christmas is here. Every continent, every country, every society and culture lives and celebrates Christmas differently, but with the same message. We, Sierra Leoneans live and celebrate Christmas as a family event, with big celebrations and abundant meals. We visit and greet one another: “Happy Krismas wi nɔ day oo, wi gladi en tɛl Gɔd tenki fɔ di layf oo.” ("Happy Christmas, we praise and thank God for our lives and for making us see another Christmas."). AUGURI DELLA SIERRA LEONE

(EN) Dear confreres, From Fadugu, a small town in Sierra Leone, where I am doing my pastoral work, I am delighted to wish you Merry Christmas and happy New Year 2021. Fadugu is special to me for three reasons. Firstly, Fadugu is where I started my first missionay experience in Sierra Leone. I still remember the warmth with which Fadugu people welcomed me. Indeed, I felt that the missionary was without doubt a universal brother. Thus, I can gladly say that Fadugu is my first love in term of pastoral work despite some challenges: languages, sacred societies, the need of material things in the villages. Secondly, I was told that “Fadugu” means "Place of bread " in Mandingo. And Bethlehem where Jesus was born means also "House of bread." Fadugu always reminds me where Jesus was born: Bethlehem. Thirdly Fadugu is a land of mixture: different tribes (Limba, Mandingo, Fulah, Korankoh, Mende and Temnee) and different religions (Islam, Christianism and African Traditional Religion (R.T.A). (IT) Cari confratelli, da Fadugu, una piccola città della Sierra Leone, dove svolgo il mio ministero pastorale, sono lieto di augurarvi Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo 2021. Fadugu è speciale per me per tre motivi. In primo luogo, Fadugu è dove ho iniziato la mia prima esperienza missionaria in Sierra Leone. Ricordo ancora il calore con cui mi hanno accolto le persone di Fadugu. In effetti, sentivo che il missionario era senza dubbio un fratello universale. Quindi, posso dire con gioia che Fadugu è il mio primo amore in termini di lavoro pastorale, nonostante alcune sfide come le lingue, le società sacre, il bisogno di cose materiali nei villaggi. In secondo luogo, mi è stato detto che "Fadugu" significa Luogo del pane in Mandingo. E Betlemme, dove nacque Gesù, significa anche Casa del pane. Fadugu mi ricorda sempre dove è nato Gesù: Betlemme. In terzo luogo, Fadugu è una terra di mescolanza: diverse tribù (Limba, Mandingo, Fulah, Korankoh, Mende e Temnee) e diverse religioni (Islam, Cristianesimo e Religione tradizionale africana (RTA). AUGURI DEL MOZAMBICO 

(PT) Um ano está prestes para terminar e um outro se aponta num horizonte próximo. Entre um evento e o outro, encontra-se no meio o grande mistério da Encarnação do Verbo de Deus que celebramos na fé como a solenidade do Deus-connosco, Emanuel! Como no mundo em geral aqui também, em Moçambique, o decorrer do ano 2020 não terá sido vivido sem, por um lado, o seu pacote de lições (desde o primeiro caso oficial do Covid-19 no mês de Março) mas também, por outro lado, de bênçãos divinas preciosas (com, de forma particular, o lançamento do Ano jubilar da publicação da Carta Testamento e das nossas primeiras Constituições). Contudo o Senhor-salva, Jesus, não deixa de estar perto de nós e nos oferece a graça de enfrentar o futuro com sonho, esperança e desejo de "recomeçar" com fervor renovado, como no-lo recomendaria São G.M. Conforti. (IT) Un anno sta per finire e un altro è all'orizzonte. Tra un evento e l'altro c'è di mezzo il grande mistero dell'Incarnazione del Verbo di Dio che celebriamo nella fede come solennità del Dio-con-noi, l’Emmanuele! Come nel mondo in generale anche qui, in Mozambico, il corso dell'anno 2020 non sarebbe stato vissuto senza, da un lato, il suo pacchetto di lezioni (dal primo caso ufficiale di Covid-19 nel mese di marzo) ma anche, da dall'altra, senza quelle preziose benedizioni divine (l’inizio dell'Anno Giubilare della pubblicazione della Lettera Testamento e delle nostre prime Costituzioni). Tuttavia, il Signore-Salvatore, Gesù, ci rimane vicino e ci offre la grazia di affrontare il futuro con sogno, speranza e voglia di "ricominciare" con rinnovato fervore, come consigliava San Guido Maria Conforti. Quindi, con la semplicità, la gioia e il coraggio che caratterizzano i poveri qui intorno a noi, vi auguriamo BUON NATALE 2020 e PROSPERO ANNO NUOVO 2021 per l'intera Famiglia Saveriana diffusa in tutto il mondo! Buone Feste a tutti!(Robert Kowa s.x.)

(EN) One year is about to end and another is on the horizon. Between one event and the other, there lies in the middle the great mystery of the Incarnation of the Word of God we celebrate in faith as the solemnity of God-with-us, the Emmanuel! As in the world in general here too, in Mozambique, the year 2020 would not have been lived without, on the one hand, its package of lessons (since the first official case of Covid-19 in March) but also, on the other hand, without the precious divine blessings (with, in particular, the launch of the Jubilee Year of the publication of the Testament Letter and of our first Constitutions). However, the Lord-Savior, Jesus, remains close to us and offers us the grace to face the future with a dream, hope and the desire to "start again" with renewed fervor, as it was recommended by St. G. Conforti. For this reason, with simplicity, joy and courage that characterize the poor people around us here, we wish you MERRY CHRISTMAS 2020 and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2021 for the entire Xaverian Family spread all over the world! AUGURI DEL CAMEROUN 

(FR) La célébration de la naissance de l’Emmanuel « le Dieu avec nous et pour nous » en cette année particulière nous est donnée de vivre davantage l’expérience de la consolation que Dieu apporte à tout son peuple ; Noël est ainsi le renouvellement de l’assurance que Dieu continue à nous donner « grâce après grâce », nous donnant d’avoir toujours plus part à sa plénitude en tant que ses enfants.  Le Christ se fait encore frère de tout homme et indique davantage le chemin et l’exigence de la fraternité universelle à laquelle le Pape François invite l’humanité : en sortant de nous-mêmes et de nos murs pour partager sa vie qui est en nous. Dans sa vulnérabilité, le Christ aux mille visages, le Christ en tout homme se remet en nos mains, et fait de nous son espérance pour notre temps, l’espérance d’un monde nouveau et plus beau, fraternel et solidaire.  C’est en cela de façon concrète que nous porterons notre modeste contribution à « faire du monde une seule famille ». Que le Christ qui nait pour nous naisse en nous et puissions-nous par sa grâce construire un monde toujours plus fraternel et plus solidaire !! Joyeux Noël et heureuse Année 2021. (IT) La celebrazione della nascita dell’Emmanuele Dio con noi e per noi in questo anno speciale ci è data per vivere di più l'esperienza della consolazione che Dio porta a tutto il suo popolo. Il Natale è dunque il rinnovamento della certezza che Dio continua a darci "grazia su grazia", donandoci di avere sempre più parte alla sua pienezza come suoi figli. Cristo si fa ancora fratello di ogni uomo e indica ulteriormente il cammino e l'esigenza della fratellanza universale a cui Papa Francesco invita l'umanità: uscire da noi stessi e dalle nostre mura per condividere la sua vita che è in noi. Nella sua vulnerabilità, Cristo dai mille volti, Cristo in ogni uomo si pone nelle nostre mani e fa di noi la sua speranza per il nostro tempo, la speranza di un mondo nuovo e più bello, fraterno e unito. È in questo modo concreto che daremo il nostro modesto contributo a "fare del mondo una sola famiglia". (EN) The celebration of the birth of the Emmanuel God with us and for us in this special year is given to us to live more intensely the experience of the consolation that God brings to all his people. Christmas is the renewal of the assurance that God continues to give us "grace after grace", making us ever more part in his fullness as his children. Christ continues to be brother of every person and further indicates the way and the requirement of the universal brotherhood to which Pope Francis invites humanity: by going out of ourselves and of our walls to share his life which is in us. In his vulnerability, Christ with a thousand faces, Christ in every person places himself in our hands, and makes us his hope for our time, the hope of a new and more beautiful world, fraternal and united. AUGURI DEL CIAD 

(FR) Qu’il est beau de souhaiter « Joyeux Noël » à ceux qu’on aime. Et il est une grâce pour moi de le faire d’ici, de la savane du Tchad, de Gounou-Gaya. D’ici, où nous ne voyons l’approche de Noël que dans la simplicité des liturgies chrétiennes du temps de l’Avent. D’ici, où nous n’avons pas de Père Noël, pas des lumières qui clignotent, pas de sapins décorés, pas d’affiches publicitaires… Ici, nous n’avons que les cœurs silencieux des chrétiens, qui comme ceux des pasteurs étonnés face à la Bonne Nouvelle, presque incompréhensible, d’une vie toute neuve, se laissent inonder d’espérance, de paix et de joie. Joyeux Noël à vous mes frères, compagnons de voyage, que les distances qui encore persistent entre nos cœurs et celui du Père puisse être raccourcies par le mystère de l’Incarnation. (IT) Come è bello augurare "Buon Natale" alle persone che amiamo. Ed è una grazia per me farlo qui, nella savana del Ciad, a Gounou-Gaya. Da qui, dove vediamo l'avvicinarsi del Natale solo nella semplicità delle liturgie cristiane dell'Avvento. Da qui, dove non abbiamo Babbo Natale, niente luci lampeggianti, niente alberi addobbati, niente cartelloni pubblicitari ... Qui abbiamo solo i cuori silenziosi dei cristiani, che come quelli dei pastori attoniti di fronte alla Buona Novella, quasi incomprensibile, di una vita completamente nuova, si lasciano inondare di speranza, pace e gioia. Buon Natale a voi fratelli miei, compagni di viaggio, che le distanze che ancora persistono tra il nostro cuore e quello del Padre siano accorciate dal mistero dell'Incarnazione. As Mary did, we fulfill our mission and bring forth Christ in our midst by loving one another and each person that comes our way, so to share the “Gift” with all and make of humanity one Family. (IT) Il Natale è fare regali. Dio ci ha dato il più grande “Dono”: Gesù, il Missionario, il Salvatore. Come ha fatto Maria, adempiamo la nostra missione e portiamo Cristo in mezzo a noi, amandoci gli uni gli altri e ogni persona che cammina sulla nostra strada, così da condividere il “Dono” con tutti e fare dell'umanità una Famiglia. (IT) Il Natale di Gesù è accaduto in un contesto di angustia e trepidazione. La festa del Natale quest'anno è segnata dalla tribolazione. In questa situazione il Dio Bambino accende la luce della Speranza.  La Speranza che ci fa percorrere le vie dell'annuncio della lieta notizia che tutto trasfigura. Ci fa capaci di collaborare per un mondo più umano, più vicino alla realizzazione del sogno di Dio. (EN) Jesus' birth occurred in a context of distress and trepidation. The feast of Christmas this year is marked by tribulation. In this situation, the Child God turns on the light of Hope. Hope that makes us walk the paths of the proclamation of the Gospel that transforms everything. It enables us to collaborate for a more human world, closer to the realization of God's dream.
