The Xaverian presence in the United Kingdom has radically changed since the opening of the first house in the 1950’s. We have moved from a region where the focus was vocations and formation, with structures that reflected the ideal of forming missionaries for mission ad extra, to a region that still seeks to nourish vocations, as well as using our talents, our gifts and our experience in promoting the Kingdom within the context of a local church that sees itself “suffering noticeably from the general malaise of Catholic communities in western Europe1
