ANNIVERSARIO MARTIRI DI BUJENGERO

Dalla lettera di P. Generale per il 20° Anniversario dei martiri di Bujengero: «Il 30 settembre del 1995 venivano martirizzati, in Burundi, i pp. O. Maule, A. Marchiol e la volontaria C. Gubert.
Da allora il pellegrinaggio alle loro tombe, e alla stanza sul cui muro ancora sono visibili i fori delle tre pallottole, è continuo… segno che essi sono testimoni vivi e autorevoli di Cristo.
Anche noi, in comunione con i nostri confratelli che vivono e operano oggi in Burundi e con le Sorelle Saveriane provate dalla uccisione delle tre Sorelle un anno fa, vogliamo fare memoria di essi nel 20° anniversario della loro uccisione».
Burundi
Il 30 settembre andremo tutti in pellegrinaggio a Buyengero: confratelli e studenti di filosofia. E’ il 20° anniversario del massacro di Ottorino, Aldo e Katina. Con noi verrà anche il Nunzio. La celebrazione sarà presieduta dal vescovo di Bururi, Mons. Venant Bacinoni, e ci saranno tutti i Sacerdoti del Vicariato di Buyengero e altri.
Italia
Parma, 30 settembre. Le nostre comunità di Parma si sono ritrovate al Santuario Conforti per l'Eucaristia in memoria dei "martiri" del Buyengero, in azione di grazie al Signore per la loro generosa testimonianza e per l'implorazione della pace in quel martoriato paese.
CINA
Il recente viaggio di papa Francesco negli USA ha avuto un’eco particolare anche in Cina per la concomitante visita di stato del presidente cinese Xi Jinping. Malgrado il tono trionfalistico degli organi di informazione cinese, non è passato inosservato il fatto che all’arrivo il papa sia stato accolto dalla famiglia Obama, dal vice-presidente Biden e da folle di cittadini comuni, mentre a ricevere Xi Jinping a Seattle vi fosse solo un inviato speciale del presidente americano e un gruppo di politici e imprenditori locali. Pure l’attenzione che i media americani hanno riservato al papa, rispetto al limitato interesse per Xi Jinping e le enormi opportunità economiche che la Cina rappresenta, ha sconcertato molti dei commentatori e bloggers cinesi… l’ ‘incidente’ ha generato un interesse insolito su chi sia il papa, il suo ruolo ed il suo messaggio, e… la sua ‘automobiletta’.
USA
I Saveriani hanno organizzato un workshop con l’Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (NJ Synod) su: Social Media e Condivisione della Buona Notizia. All’incontro, svoltosi nella Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in New Jersey, è inter-venuta, come facilitatrice, Meredith Gould, autrice di The Social Media Gospel. Hanno partecipato all’evento quattro confratelli, due Saveriane, e il nostro Direttore delle Comunicazioni.

Anzalone, famigliarmente ‘mafia’, invita a ricordare i neoprofessi del 3 ottobre 1965: «Il Padreterno, in questo nostro giubileo di professione religiosa saveriana, ci dia la gioia del van-gelo per cantare Laudato si’ con Francesco, il po-vero d’Assisi, e con l’altro Francesco, che si firma vescovo di Roma»!

Hortolándia: il 26-27 settembre si é svolto il primo incontro formativo di orientamento vocazionale con la presenza di 12 giovani. Il primo passo: conoscere la famiglia saveriana.

ANNIVERSARY MARTYRS OF BUYENGERO
GENERAL DIRECTION
Fr. Luigi Menegazzo, our Superior General, in his letter remembering the 20th Anniversary of the our Martyrs of Buyengero ,wrote: “On Sept. 30th – 1995, our Frs. Ot. Maule, A. Marchiol and the lay missionary volunteer K. Gubert were martyred. From then on, the daily pilgrimage to their tomb and to the room, where the wall shows the holes of the bullets, has been continuous … evident sign that our martyrs are living and believable witnesses to Christ. In communion with all our confreres who live and work today in Burundi and with all our Xaverian Sisters, who suffered the death of their three Sisters one year ago, we too want to remember them on the 20th Anniversary of their martyrdom.”
Burundi
On Sept. 30th, all of us, Fathers and Students of Philosophy, will be going on pilgrimage to Buyengero. It is the 20th Anniversary of the massacre of Frs. O. Maule and A.. Marchiol, and of the lay volunteer K. Gubert. The Nunzio will be with us. Mons. Venant Bacinoni, Bishop of Bururi, will preside the celebration. All the priests of the Buyengero Vicariate, together with many others, will be present.
ITALY
Parma, Sept. 30th. Communities of Parma were present at the celebration in our St. Guido Mari Conforti Shrine, recalling our martyrs of Buyen-gero. We gave thanks for their generous witness and prayed for peace for the country of Burundi, which has suffered so much.
CINA
The recent missionary trip of our Pope Francis to U.S.A. has had a particular eco also in China, in conjunction with the simultaneous state visit of China President Xi Jimping. Apart the triumphant tones of the Chinese press, the fact that the arrival of Pope Francis was welcomed by President Obama, by the Vice-president Biden and by great crowds of common citizens, while only an Official Representative and some politicians, together with local business leaders, welcomed at Seattle President Xi Jimping, was not passed unnoticed. Also the kind of attention reserved to the Pope by the media, in comparison to the limited interest for Xi Jimping and the extraordinary eco-nomic opportunities offered by China, surprised many Chinese commentators and bloggers. … This ‘incident’ has generated an unusual interest on who is the Pope, his role and his message, and also on his little car.
USA
The Xaverian Missionaries organized a workshop with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (NJ Synod) entitled: Social Media and Sharing the Good News. Meredith Gould, author of The Social Media Gospel facilitated the event, held in a Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in New Jersey. Four confreres, two Xaverian Sisters, and our Communications Director, Mary Aktay were also in attendance. Around 40 people gathered. We highly suggest her book to all confreres who are interested.
BRAZIL NORTH
Fr. Luigi Anzalone, commonly known as ‘mafia’, invites all to remember the Newly Professed Xaverians of Oct. 3 – 1965: “May the eternal Father, in this our 50th Jubilee of Xaverian Reli-gious Profession, grant us the joy of the gospel as to say with St. Francis, who calls himself the poor of Assisi, and the other Francis, who signs himself as Bishop of Rome,: “Laudato sì.”

Hortolàndia: On Sept. 26 – 27, a formational and vocational encounter with 12 young men took place. To come and know the Xaverian Family was the very first step.
