Celebrare il “Giubileo d’oro” della mia vita consacrata a Dio e al suo popolo, nella famiglia dei Missionari Saveriani (19.02.2026, ndr), è stato un tempo di grazia e di benedizioni, profondamente segnato dalla causa della missione e del Regno di Dio. Sono stati cinquant’anni in cui Dio mi ha custodito con affetto, guidandomi nella crescita della fedeltà alla sua volontà, nel senso di appartenenza a Lui e al suo popolo, nello spirito missionario e nella gratitudine. Fedeltà a Dio: sostenuto da Nostra Signora e ispirato dalla sua richiesta - “Fate tutto ciò che Gesù vi dirà” - ho cercato di mettere Gesù al centro della mia vita, lasciandomi guidare interamente da Lui. Appartenenza al Signore e al suo popolo: consacrato dallo Spirito del Signore, confesso che, nonostante i miei limiti, cammino in modo appassionato per Dio e per l’umanità, impegnato nell'annuncio del Vangelo. Spirito missionario: la mia consacrazione è sempre stata al servizio della missione, e questo spirito missionario continua a spingermi, rendendomi sempre più convinto che la Chiesa di Gesù Cristo è una Chiesa “in uscita missionaria”, che va incontro a coloro che sono indifferenti alla Parola di Dio o che non hanno ancora avuto la grazia di ascoltarla. Gratitudine: mi piace celebrare l'Eucaristia, la vita e la storia, ricordando l'azione di Dio nel mio cammino. Questa esperienza rinnova ogni giorno la mia consacrazione, il mio sacerdozio e la mia missione. Posso affermare con gratitudine: “Dio non poteva essere più buono con me”. Concludo con un pensiero di Dom Hélder Câmara: “La grazia divina è iniziare; la grazia più grande è perseverare nel cammino; ma la grazia delle grazie è non desistere mai”. (João Bortoloci Filho sx)

To be able to celebrate the “Golden Jubilee of my consecration to God and to his people within the family of the Xaverian Missionaries (19.02.2026), has been a moment of grace and blessing, a thanksgiving for a life deeply marked by the cause of mission and God’s Reign. These fifty years have been a time during which God has watched over me with affection, leading my journey of growth in fidelity to  His will, in the sense of belonging to Him and His people, and in a missionary spirit of gratitude. Fidelity to God: supported by Our Lady and inspired by His request – “Do all that Jesus will tell you” -, I have tried to place Jesus at the centre of my life, by letting Him guide me completely. Belonging to the Lord and to His people: the Spirit of the Lord consecrated me, and I must admit that, despite my many limits, I keep walking with great passion for God and for humanity as I remain committed to proclaim the Gospel. Missionary spirit: my consecration has always been at the service of mission, and this very missionary spirit continues pushing me and making me ever more convinced that the Church of Jesus Christ is a Church “that goes out on mission,” that meets those who are indifferent to the Word of God or did not have yet the grace to listen to it. Gratitude: I like celebrating Mass, life and history, and recalling God’s action in my journey. This experience renews my consecration, my priesthood and my mission every day. I can thankfully say: “God could not be more benevolent towards me.” I conclude by quoting a thought of Dom Hélder Câmara: “To begin is a divine grace; to persevere on the path is the greatest grace; but never giving up is the grace of graces.” (João Bortoloci Filho s.x.)
