Dopo un periodo di intensa preparazione, 438 catecumeni hanno ricevuto, nella parrocchia di San Guido Maria Conforti a Panzi, Bukavu, RDC, i sacramenti dell’ iniziazione cristiana. Per l’intera comunità parrocchiale, è stata una grande gioia, nonostante l'attuale contesto sociopolitico ancora segnato da tante sfide. Una liturgia nella quale a parlare sono stati piuttosto i simboli, accompagnati da poche parole. Il parroco ha invitato la comunità a testimoniare con la vita la vittoria della luce sulle tenebre, della verità sulla menzogna, promuovendo la vita in questa nuova cultura che tende ad essere strumento di morte. Verso la fine è stato bello il canto dei neofiti : “nonostante la proliferazione delle sette, ci impegniamo a custodire la fede cattolica ed i valori cristiani…” (I confratelli di Panzi, Bukavu, RDC)

After a period of intense preparation, 438 catechumens received the sacraments of Christian initiation in the parish of St Guido Maria Conforti in Panzi, Bukavu, DRC. For the entire parish community, it was a great joy, despite the current socio-political context still marked by so many challenges. A liturgy in which it was rather the symbols that spoke, accompanied by a few words. The parish priest invited the community to witness with their lives the victory of light over darkness, of truth over falsehood, promoting life in this new culture that tends to be an instrument of death. Towards the end, the song of the neophytes was beautiful: “despite the proliferation of sects, we are committed to preserving the Catholic faith and Christian values...”.
