Lo Stato dell'Amazzonia, in particolare la sua capitale Manaus, sta subendo le conseguenze della seconda ondata della pandemia da Covid 19. Come ha affermato il nostro Arcivescovo Monsignor Leonardo Steiner “se la prima ondata è stata caratterizzata dalla mancanza di informazione e dalla mancanza di posti letto nelle Unità di Terapia Intensiva, questa seconda ondata è caratterizzata dalla mancanza di posti letto e soprattutto dalla mancanza di ossigeno…”. Dal “grido” di Mons. Leonardo e dalla sua urgente richiesta di ossigeno per gli ospedali di Manaus e i comuni vicini è partita una grande rete di solidarietà, proveniente da ogni parte e dall'estero con il fine di dare una risposta concreta alla mancanza di questo elemento fondamentale per la vita. È così che gli aiuti sono arrivati da singoli individui, dal governo federale e anche dall'estero. Il Venezuela, per esempio, ha inviato 6 camion carichi di ossigeno che arriveranno a Manaus in questi giorni. Qui a Alto de Solimões i casi positivi continuano a crescere, ma per ora i servizi sanitari riescono ancora a controllare la situazione. Ieri ho visitato l'ospedale militare di Tabatinga e mi hanno detto che era tutto sotto controllo e che avevano l'ossigeno necessario per i casi che richiedono assistenza respiratoria. Da ieri il Municipio ha emesso nuove norme per l'isolamento sociale. Dalle 18 del pomeriggio fino alle 5 del mattino nessuno può circolare per le strade. Come comunità cristiana possiamo celebrare fino alle 17:00. Per questa ragione, abbiamo dovuto anticipare l'orario del pomeriggio-sera alle 16:00. Possiamo solamente celebrare i sacramenti e con misure restrittive: capacità del 30%, tre persone per banco, alternando gli spazi tra i banchi, l’uso della mascherina e il disinfettante. Oggi ci hanno regalato una grande gioia… il vaccino è arrivato anche a Tabatinga. Adesso aspettiamo che arrivi il nostro momento…In primo luogo, verranno vaccinati gli operatori sanitari, gli anziani e le popolazioni indigene. Grazie per il vostro ricordo e affetto. The State of the Amazon, in particular its Capital Manaus, is suffering the consequences of the second wave of the Covid 19 pandemic.  Our Archbishop Mons. Leonardo Steiner said: “The first wave was characterized by a lack of information and a lack of beds and above all by a lack of oxygen…”.   Now Mons. Leonard’ expresses  “A cry” and a  urgent request  for oxygen for the Hospitals of Manaus and the neighboring municipalities”.   His words  started a great network of solidarity, coming from all over and from abroad with the aim of giving a concrete answer to the lack of this fundamental element for life.  The aid came from individuals, from the federal government and also from abroad. Venezuela, for example, has sent six oxygen-laden trucks.  They will arrive in Manaus these days.  Here, in alto  Solimoes, positive cases continue to grow, but, for now,  health services are still able to control the situation.   Yesterday I  visited the Military Hospital in Tabatinga, and they told me that everything was under control and that they had the oxygen necessary for the cases requiring  respiratory assistance.  Since yesterday, City Hall has issued new rules for social isolation.  From 6:00 pm until 6:00 am no one can drive through the streets.   As a Christian  community we can celebrate until 17:00.  For this reason, we had to bring  forward the afternoon-evening time to 16:00.  We can only celebrate the sacraments and with restrictive measures. Capacity  of 30%, three people per bench, alternating the spaces between the benches, the use of the mask and the disinfectant.  Today they gave us great joy…  the vaccine has also arrived in Tabatinga. Now, let us wait for our time…  Firstly, health workers, the elderly and indigenous people will be vaccinated.  Thank you for remembering us and for your affection.
