Invito i miei fratelli Saveriani a rallegrarsi con me per la celebrazione dei 50 anni di vita consacrata (20 febbraio 2025). Tempo perso? No! Tempo investito! La vita religiosa consacrata è un investimento per la vita presente e futura. È necessario consacrare la vita per fare questo investimento? Credo di no. Ma la consacrazione aiuta molto. Con la vita consacrata ci impegniamo con Dio e con una congregazione a cercare di essere sempre più vicini a Lui, con l'impegno della preghiera e della pratica della giustizia fondata sul Vangelo.

Cosa cambia nella nostra vita con la consacrazione? A partire dalla consacrazione, iniziamo a far parte di una nuova famiglia: ora apparteniamo a tre famiglie. La famiglia di sangue, la famiglia cristiana attraverso il battesimo e ora anche la famiglia religiosa. Questo è molto bello ma anche impegnativo, perché in ogni famiglia abbiamo diritti e doveri che dobbiamo prendere sul serio.

In questi 50 anni di vita consacrata nella famiglia Saveriana mi sono sempre sentito e continuo a sentirmi bene. La famiglia mi aiuta nel cammino, mi assicura molte condizioni per camminare con gioia e sicurezza come membro della famiglia. Ho molti motivi per lodare e ringraziare Dio per appartenere a questa famiglia, e lo faccio con molta gioia e convinzione ogni giorno.

Non possiamo dire che non abbiamo mai difficoltà, esse fanno parte della vita familiare, ma è la meta che perseguiamo insieme, l'impegno nell'annuncio del Vangelo del Regno, che ci dà le ragioni necessarie per superarle. Questi sono i motivi per cui mi rallegro per 50 anni di vita consacrata.

Sia lodato Dio per tutto ciò che ha fatto durante questo tempo e per quello che continuerà a fare fino a quando sarà nella sua volontà, che non ha limiti.

Che Dio benedica la nostra famiglia Saveriana e ci doni sempre il dono della perseveranza. (Luiz Pinto de Toledo, sx)

I invite my Xaverian brothers to rejoice with me and celebrate 50 years of consecrated life (February 20, 2025). Wasted time? No! Time invested! Consecrated religious life is an investment for the present and future life. Is it necessary to consecrate one's life to make this investment? I don't think so. But the consecration helps a lot. With consecrated life, we commit ourselves to God and a congregation and seek to be ever closer to Him, with the commitment of prayer and the practice of justice founded on the Gospel.

What changes in our lives with the consecration? Starting from consecration, we begin to be part of a new family. We belong to three families: the blood family, the Christian family through baptism, and now the religious family. Like any family, we have rights and responsibilities that we must take seriously, which makes this both incredibly beautiful and challenging.

In these 50 years of consecrated life in the Xaverian family, I have always felt and continue to feel good. The family helps me on my journey, providing me with many settings that enable me to walk with joy and security as a family member. I have many reasons to praise and thank God for belonging to this family, and I do so with great joy and conviction every day. We cannot say that we have never faced difficulties; they are part of family life, but it is the goal we pursue together, the commitment to proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, that gives us the necessary reasons to overcome them. These are the reasons why I rejoice for 50 years of consecrated life.

Praise God for all He has done during this time and for what He will continue to do as long as it is His will, which knows no bounds.
