In un ambiente bello e fraterno, quello della Comunità saveriana di Udine, ci siamo ritrovati alcuni confratelli della classe che, quest’anno, celebra i 50 anni di Ordinazione sacerdotale. Eravamo in sei: Tomaso Frigo, Romeo Brotto e Claudio Bortolossi, di questa stessa Comunità; Emilio Iurman e Gianandrea Tam, da Parma; e Mario C. Mula, da Roma. Già il rivedersi ha costituito motivo di molta gioia, per non dire poi del concorso di ricordi e della “narrazione”, da parte di ciascuno, delle proprie vicende di missione e di famiglia saveriana, vissute in questi bellissimi 50 anni. 

La concelebrazione eucaristica ha costituito il momento solenne e centrale della giornata: ciascuno ha potuto esprimere il proprio ringraziamento al Signore per un regalo così bello e anche le proprie speranze per il futuro. Affidando tutto al Signore e confermando, uniti all’offerta del Cristo, la nostra consacrazione alla missione. Tale conferma è stata espressa anche con il canto finale del “Mira i tuoi figli”, con quelle parole “laggiù del martirio la palma gloriosa noi sospiriam”, evocanti momenti di entusiasmo giovanile dei nostri anni di formazione. 

Abbiamo ricordato, naturalmente, i nostri compagni che non hanno potuto partecipare (Severino Mastrotto, Luigi Anzalone, Lino Zucchi, Paolo Maran, Gianni Zampini e Luigi Paggi) e quelli che sono già nella casa del Padre (Roberto Dal Forno, Sergio Favarin e Giovanni Abbiati). La Comunità poi ci ha resi partecipe di un pranzo conviviale veramente speciale.

Grazie, dunque, alla comunità Saveriana di Udine e grazie a quanti ci hanno accompagnato con il ricordo al Signore. La conclusione, una volta di più, non può essere altra che quella espressa dal Fondatore: “Il Signore non poteva essere più buono con noi!”. (Mario Carmelo Mula sx)

Some of the confreres who, this year, celebrate 50 years of ordination to the priesthood met in the beautiful and fraternal environment of the Xaverian community in Udine. We were six: Tomaso Frigo, Romeo Brotto and Claudio Bortolossi, who belong to that Community; Emilio Iurman and Gianandrea Tam from Parma; and Mario C. Mula from Rome. The simple fact of being able to meet again was already reason for much rejoicing, not to mention remembering the past and each one “telling” his story, his own experiences of mission and Xaverian family life over these past 50 beautiful years.

Celebrating the Eucharist together constituted the central and solemn moment of the day: everyone could express his  thanksgiving to the Lord for such a beautiful gift, as well as his hopes for the future; we entrusted everything to the Lord and confirmed, in union with Christ’s offering, our consecration to the mission. We expressed this confirmation also through the final song, Mira i tuoi figli (Behold your children), whose lyrics “laggiù del martirio la palma gloriosa noi sospiriam” (there in those lands we aspire to gain the glorious palm of martyrdom) in particular, reminded us of moments of youthful enthusiasm during our years of formation.

Obviously, we also remembered our companions who could not participate (Severino Mastrotto, Luigi Anzalone, Lino Zucchi, Paolo Maran, Gianni Zampini and Luigi Paggi), as well as those who have already reached the Father’s House (Roberto Dal Forno, Sergio Favarin and Giovanni Abbiati). The Community then prepared for us a very special banquet.

Therefore, thanks to the Xaverian community in Udine and thanks to all who accompanied us by keeping us in their prayers to the Lord. Once again, the conclusion we draw cannot be but that expressed by our Founder: The Lord could not have been more benevolent towards us! (Mario Carmelo Mula s.x.)
