Come sapete, dal 15 marzo 2020 abbiamo interrotto tutte le attività pubbliche, comprese le messe nella parrocchia di San Matteo. Abbiamo annullato tutti gli impegni con i parrocchiani, gli studenti sono a casa nostra e non facciamo alcuna attività fuori casa. Per evitare la monotonia, in comunità ci siamo organizzati con un po’ di creatività aumentando i momenti di fraternità: incontri, gare di musica e di canto, tornei sportivi indoor e fuori casa, ecc. Tutto questo aiuta ad essere più sereni, grazie a Dio.
Siamo relativamente al sicuro anche se qualche ansia e paura c’è stata poiché il numero di contagiati sta aumentando nel nostro quartiere. Il lockdown sembra non funzionare molto bene soprattutto perché sono sempre più numerose le persone senza lavoro, ma che devono mangiare e sostenere le loro famiglie. Per cui, grazie anche ai nostri benefattori, cerchiamo di condividere con il vicinato ciò che abbiamo (denaro, riso e uova) aiutandoli come possiamo in questi momenti difficili. Brasile
Stiamo tutti bene, grazie a Dio, tutti in casa e, fino ad ora, sembra che nessun saveriano si sia ammalato di Covid-19. Faremo la riunione del Consiglio regionale via Skype per vedere alcune situazioni nella Circoscrizione. Sfortunatamente, il Brasile sta passando con difficoltà attraverso due grandi crisi: la salute pubblica, a causa del Covid-19 e la situazione politica, a causa del presidente, che non solo sottovaluta il problema, ma si comporta in modo inadeguato alle esigenze della situazione, come “un pazzo” che vuole che tutto continui come sempre: lavoro, scuola, ecc. Se non fosse per le autorità giudiziarie e legislative che cercando di fermarlo, le cose sarebbero peggiori.
Sono molto contento che le cose stiano migliorando in Italia.
Qui la situazione è molto critica, non si sa se siamo al culmine della crisi o non ancora; comunque sono più di 600 i morti ogni giorno, e la cifra totale ha ormai raggiunto la quota di novemila. E la quantità di contagi in un solo giorno ha già superato quota 10.000. Solo Dio sa cosa ci aspetta. (P. Rafael Villaseñor)

«Anche in Giappone stiamo aspettando che le misure di prevenzione che il governo ha promulgato per tutti i cittadini, vengano aggiornate in proporzione alla diminuzione del pericolo Covid-19. Non c’è ancora un calo così evidente dei contagiati, ma ci sono le urgenze per la scuola, il lavoro, i viaggi, le relazioni umane... che “pestano i piedi” per riprendere la vita “quasi” normale.
Dalla seconda settimana di maggio, si prevedono cambiamenti. Ma anche dopo, continueremo a disinfettarci le mani tante volte al giorno e a parlare filtrando le parole attraverso la mascherina! E anche noi riprenderemo con prudenza a pascolare le pecorelle del nostro gregge parrocchiale. Chissà se ritorneranno “affamate” di Messa, di incontro tra di loro, di chiacchere dopo la messa mentre bevono il the...!??!»

«Noi qui tutti bene. Sembra che si vada verso la fine di questa pandemia, anche se non è stato trovato ancora il vaccino. Il governo di Taiwan non ha ancora annunciato l’inizio della fase “tutti liberi” – che qui, di per sé, c’è quasi sempre stata. Infatti non ci sono mai state drastiche restrizioni come in Italia o in altre nazioni. Siamo già al quarto giorno senza nessun nuovo caso di contagio».

As you know, since Match 15th, we have stopped all public activities, including masses in the parish of Saint Matthew. We have canceled all the commitments with the parishioners; our seminarians are with us and we do not have any activity outside the Noviciate House. To avoid monotony, in the community we organized ourselves with a little creativity by increasing the moments of fraternity: meetings, music and singing contests, indoor and away sports tournaments, etc. Thank God, all this also helps to be more serene.
We are relatively safe even if there has been some anxiety and fear, since the number of infected people is increasing in our neighborhood. The lockdown does not seem to work very well, above all because more and more people are out of work; but they need to eat and support their families. So, thanks also to our benefactors, we try to share with the neighborhood what we have (food, money, …), helping them in these difficult moments the way we can. Let's pray for each other. (Fr. “We are all well, thank God, all confined in the house. It seems that no Xaverian has fallen ill with Covid – 19. The Regional Council Meeting will take place via Skype. Some situations in our Region need to be taken care of. Unfortunately, Brazil is going through two major crises: public health care, due to Covid-19, and the political situation, due to the president, who not only underestimates the problem, but behaves inadequately, not facing the needs of the situation, as “a mad man” who wants everything to continue the same as always: work, school, etc. If it were not for the judicial and legislative authorities trying to stop it, things would be worse. I am very happy that things are improving in Italy.
Here the situation is very critical; we do not know whether we are at the hight of the crisis or not yet. However, more than 600 people die every day, and the total number has now reached nine thousand. The amount of infections in a single day has already reached 10,000. Only God knows what lies ahead. ‘We, here in Japan, are waiting for the preventive measures that the government has updated for all citizens in an effort to reduce the pandemic of Covet19. There is not yet such a noticeable decline in the number of persons infected, but there are urgent needs for school, work, travel, human relations …, ”foot pounding” to resume “almost” normal life.
Changes are expected from the second week of May. But, even after that date, we will continue to disinfect our hands many times a day and talk by filtering words through the mask! We too will have to take a cautious approach as we provide for the needs of our parish flock. Who knows if they will return “hungry” for the Mass, of meeting each other, of chatting after Mass while they drink their cup of tea!??”

“Here, we are all fine! It seems that we are nearing the end of is pandemic, even if the vaccine has not yet been found. The government of Taiwan has not yet announced the beginning of the “all free” fase – which, here, has almost always been there. In fact, there have never been drastic restrictions, like in Italy or other countries. We are already on the fourth day without new cases of contagion!”
