Il Santuario di Fatima, qui a Holliston, Massachusetts, USA, è conosciuto localmente anche per la Rosary Walk (la Passeggiata del Rosario) – una serie di rocce che formano il rosario.

La scorsa settimana, la Rosary Walk è apparsa nel programma CBS News Boston della Televisione locale. A seguito dell’elezione di un Papa americano, la CBS News Boston presenta luoghi storici, religiosi e monumentali della nostra area. Il nostro Rosario è stato scelto tra le destinazioni uniche e più visitate da pellegrini e turisti.

La Rosary Walk è composta da 60 rocce scolpite e connesse con una grande catena. Ciascuna roccia ha incisa l’Ave Maria in una tra 50 lingue diverse del mondo. La forma del Rosario è quella di un cuore il cui contorno è lungo 950 piedi (290 metri). Le rocce di granito sabbiato provengono dal sito su cui si costruì la strada Interstate 495 circumferential Massachusetts Road.

La catena e l’àncora, usate anche come motivo per ispirare la gioventù, provengono dalla nave John F. Kennedy della Marina Militare Statunitense

Il defunto p. Oddo Galeazzi costruì questo Rosario negli anni 70 del secolo scorso. P. Galeazzi ed un amico recuperarono le pietre dal sito di granito sabbiato, le caricarono su un grande camion e, una ad una, le trasportarono sul nostro terreno.

Visitatori e pellegrini vengono qualsiasi giorno a percorrere la Passeggiata del Rosario recitando le Ave Maria. Qui trovano un luogo di pace e di preghiera.

Stando alla World Record Academy, questo Rosario di pietre è il più grande rosario al mondo. La Passeggiata del Rosario e l’annesso luogo di pellegrinaggio sono già apparsi in altri notiziari nel passato: Boston Globe, National Catholic Register, Wicked Local, 180 Out. Our Fatima Shrine here in Holliston, Massachusetts, USA, is also known locally for the Rosary Walk - a sculpted boulders Rosary beads.

Last week, it was featured by the CBS News Boston – the local Television Network. Since the Pope comes from America, the CBS News Boston are featuring historical – monumental – religious places in its locality. Our Rosary beads was chosen as one of the unique and well-visited tourist-pilgrim destination. 

The Rosary beads are made of the 60 sculpted boulders connected by a big chain. Each boulder engraved the “Hail Mary” in 50 world local and international languages. It is formed into a heart-shaped Rosary. It is measured 950 feet long. The boulders came from the blasted granite during the construction of the Interstate 495 circumferential Massachusetts Road.

The chains and the anchor came from the United States Navy dedicated to Pres. John F. Kennedy naval ship as an inspiration to the youth. It was built by the late confrere Fr. Oddo Galeazzi in the 1970’s. Fr. Galeazzi and a friend took the boulders from the blasted granite site loaded to a big truck and carried them to the compound one by one.  

Visitors and pilgrims come at any day to recite the Rosary Walk and find place of peace and prayer.
