Da ventisette anni si celebra nella Chiesa la festa della Giornata Mondiale della Vita Consacrata che ricorre il 2 febbraio, giorno della Presentazione di Gesù al tempio.
Ricordiamo qui tre aspetti che ci possono aiutare a vivere con gratitudine il dono ricevuto e con rinnovato impegno:
Con la professione dei consigli evangelici i tratti caratteristici di Gesù — vergine, povero ed obbediente — acquistano una tipica e permanente “visibilità” in mezzo al mondo, e lo sguardo degli uomini e donne è richiamato verso quel mistero del Regno di Dio che già opera nella storia… (Cfr. Vita Consecrata, n.1).
La vita religiosa apostolica - missionaria è una testimonianza splendida e varia, nella quale si rispecchia la molteplicità dei carismi elargiti da Dio a fondatori e fondatrici che, aperti all'azione dello Spirito Santo, hanno saputo interpretare i segni dei tempi e rispondere in modo illuminato alle esigenze via via emergenti, nel campo della carità e nell’annuncio del Vangelo. FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD: XXVII WORLD DAY OF CONSECRATED LIFE
World Day of Consecrated Life has been celebrated in the Church for twenty-seven years. It falls on February 2nd, Feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the temple.
Reflecting of three aspects may help us live out the gift we received with gratitude and renewed commitment:
By the profession of the evangelical counsels the characteristic features of Jesus — the chaste, poor and obedient one — are made constantly "visible" in the midst of the world and the eyes of the faithful are directed towards the mystery of the Kingdom of God already at work in history... (see Vita Consecrata, 1)
Apostolic and missionary religious life is a splendid and varied testimony, reflecting the multiplicity of gifts bestowed by God on founders and foundresses who, in openness to the working of the Holy Spirit, successfully interpreted the signs of the times and responded wisely to new needs that progressively arise in the field of charity and in the spread of the Gospel in the Missions.
