Come da tradizione, in primavera, la rivista dei Saveriani Missione Oggi ha realizzato il suo convegno annuale. Il punto di partenza sono stati i due dossier dedicati l’anno scorso ai temi della Geopolitica del XXI secolo (1/2023) e de I movimenti per la pace nel nuovo scenario mondiale (3/2023). Il convegno ha inteso offrire spunti per una diversa narrazione del mondo. Da qui il titolo Dove va il mondo? affidato soprattutto a Raniero La Valle. Mentre il sottotitolo, Nuove prospettive geopolitiche, privilegia tre scenari, tra i vari emersi nella preparazione del convegno: Geopolitica della Pace (Marco Mascia), Geopolitica della salute (Nicoletta Dentico), Geopolitica delle fedi (Enzo Pace). Viviamo in un mondo stretto nella morsa di guerre, che causano sofferenze indicibili all’umanità e all’ambiente. Quali vie d’uscita dall’oscura notte della guerra? Ne abbiamo intraviste almeno due: quella del rispetto del diritto internazionale e quella della nonviolenza, le uniche in grado di stare davvero dalla parte delle vittime e di riportare fiducia nella pace. Ma è forse anche giunta l’ora di una nuova Pacem in terris, di un’enciclica cioè che risponda alle lezioni degli ultimi 61 anni, che hanno fatto scempio del diritto internazionale, ignorando il grido di milioni di vittime. Potrebbe magari essere – perché no? – la prima enciclica scritta insieme da alcuni rappresentanti delle grandi religioni del mondo, già in dialogo tra loro, come nel caso di papa Francesco e del grande imam di al-Azhar al-Tayyib, che offrirebbero anche così un contributo originale per forzare l’aurora di pace a nascere in questa notte fonda di guerra, anzi di guerre. As per tradition, Missione Oggi, the magazine of the Xaverians, in Spring held its yearly convention. Its starting point was last year’s two special issues dedicated to Geopolitics in the XXI century (2023/1) and to The Movements for Peace in the New World Scenario (2023/3). The convention intended to offer suggestions for a different narrative of the world. This is the reason behind the title Where is the World Heading To? whose presentation was entrusted to Raniero La Valle. As for the subtitle, New Geopolitical Perspectives, it refers to three scenarios that emerged, among others, during the preparation for the event: Geopolitics of Peace (Marco Masci), Geopolitics of Health (Nicoletta Dentico), and Geopolitics of Faiths (Enzo Pace). We live in a world caught in the grip of wars that provoke unspeakable suffering to humanity and to the environment. What are the ways out of the dark night of war? We spotted at least two: abiding by international rules and the way of non-violence; these are the only solutions that stand in favour of the victims and make it possible to re-establish trust in peace. Yet, it is perhaps time for a new Pacem in terris, that is, for a new encyclical that would answer to the events of the last 61 years – events which have wreaked havoc on international laws, neglecting the cry of millions of victims. It could be – why not? – the first encyclical written together with some representatives of the great religions of the world that are already in dialogue among them, as in the case of Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Sheik al-Tayyib. In this way a contribution would be offered to hasten the dawn of peace into raising from this deep night of wars. (Mario Menin s.x.)
