Reverendo Padre:
A nome dei Missionari Saveriani, Lei mi ha reso partecipe della celebrazione del XVIII Capitolo Generale di questo Istituto, che si realizzerà dal 1 al 23 luglio a Bukavu.
La ringrazio per questo gesto e mi rallegra il fatto che abbiate scelto il continente africano come sede per realizzare il Capitolo. Questa scelta è il riflesso della vocazione missionaria che avete abbracciato: andare in tutto il mondo ad annunciare la gioia del Vangelo, specialmente nelle periferie geografiche ed esistenziali, all’incontro dei fratelli e sorelle che soffrono di più e non conoscono l’amore di Dio. Vi incoraggio a continuare per questa strada, lasciandovi costantemente interpellare dalle parole dell’Apostolo: “l’amore di Dio ci spinge” (2 Cor 5,14). Allo stesso modo, chiedo al Signore che mandi il suo Spirito Santo ai Padri capitolari affinché, in fedeltà al Vangelo, al Magistero della Chiesa e al proprio carisma, sappiano discernere qual è la volontà di Dio per questo Istituto nell’ora presente.
Gesù vi benedica e la Vergine Santa vi sostenga con la sua protezione materna. E per favore, non dimenticatevi di pregare per me.

Reverend Father,
on behalf of the Xaverian Missionaries, you informed me of the XVIII General Chapter which your Institute is about to celebrate from July 1st to 23rd, in Bukavu.
I thank You for this gesture and am glad to know that you have chosen the African continent as the venue for your Chapter. This choice reflects the missionary vocation you have embraced: to go all over the world to proclaim the joy of the Gospel, especially in the geographical and existential peripheries, by meeting brothers and sisters who suffer the most and do not know God’s love. I encourage you to continue along this path, constantly allowing yourselves to be challenged by the Apostle's words: “the love of Christ impels us” (2Cor 5:14). Likewise, I ask the Lord to send his Holy Spirit on the Chapter Fathers so that, with fidelity to the Gospel, to the Magisterium of the Church and to their own charism, they may be able to discern what God’s will is for this Institute at the present time.
May Jesus bless you and the Holy Virgin support you with her maternal protection. And, please, do not forget to pray for me.
