Tutto ebbe inizio negli anni 1990 quando, formandosi un nuovo “bairro” (chiamato Londrina),  - “quartiere” in italiano -  si costituì anche un gruppo di preghiera che, con l’aiuto di P. Camillo Didonè sx, divenne presto una comunità con una sua edificio-chiesa che dedicarono a San Guido Maria Conforti, passando ad essere una delle comunità della parrocchia San Raimondo Nonnato nel comune di Santa Lucia, nello Stato di Minas Gerais (Brasile). Comunità famiglia, comunità comunione, comunità in cui veramente le gioie e le sofferenze di uno erano, e lo sono ancora, le gioie e le sofferenze di tutti. Nilda, una signora che lavora nella comunità, rimase incinta per la seconda volta. La prima gravidanza era terminata con la morte della neonata qualche giorno dopo il parto. E così sarebbe successo anche per la seconda gravidanza, diagnosticavano i medici.

La comunità non si arrese. Per mesi e mesi, riunioni di preghiera, ore di adorazione, novena a San Guido Maria Conforti. I vari medici, ostetrici e pediatri, emisero il verdetto durante la gestazione, dichiarando che il feto non sarebbe sopravvissuto fino al sesto mese. Il piccolo, nato con parto cesareo, pesava meno di 900 grammi. Sembrava tutto finito, quando al 18º giorno ebbe un prolungato arresto cardiaco. La comunità, tuttavia, con i genitori del neonato e i parenti, continuavano a pregare e sperare: San Guido saprà intercedere presso il Padre per una grazia speciale. Una “grazia” ritenuta inspiegabile per i medici della Congregazione per la causa dei Santi. “Diciotto giorni…” ed oggi a 18 anni, nel decimo anniversario della canonizzazione, Tiago ritorna alla cappella e canta un inno di lode e di grazie con tutta la sua comunità. Everything started in the 1990s when, following the formation of a new bairro (city district) called Londrina, a prayer group was started. Thanks to the assistance of Fr. Camillo Didonè s.x., that group soon became a community with its own edifice used as church and dedicated to St Guido Maria Conforti. The new community became part of the group of communities belonging to the parish of San Raimondo Nonnato in the township of Santa Lucia, Minas Gerais State (Brazil). That family style community, a community of communion, is a community where one’s joys and sorrows were and are the joys and sorrows of everyone else. Nilda, a lady who works in the community, became pregnant for the second time. Her first pregnancy had terminated with the death of the baby girl few days after delivery. According to the doctors’ diagnosis, the same would have happened to her second pregnancy.   

The community did not give up. For months they held prayer meetings, hours of adoration, novenas to St Guido Maria Conforti. Several doctors, obstetricians and paediatricians delivered their verdict during her gestation: they declared that the foetus would have not survived till the sixth month.

The tiny baby born by c-section weighted less than 900 grammes. When on his 18^th day, the infant had a prolonged cardiac arrest, everything seemed to end. However, the community, together with the new-born baby’s parents and relatives, kept on praying and hoping: St Guido will be able to intercede with the Father for a special grace. A “grace” that later the medical experts of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints concluded to be inexplicable. “Eighteen days…” today, on the tenth anniversary of Conforti’s canonization, the 18-year-old Tiago returns in the chapel and sings a hymn of praise and thanksgiving with his whole community.
