Sabato 01 febbraio 2025, alcuni confratelli hanno partecipato, alle ore 17.00, nella Basilica Vaticana, alla celebrazione dei Primi Vespri della Festa della Presentazione del Signore e XXIX Giornata Mondiale della Vita Consacrata, presieduta da papa Francesco.

Partecipare alla preghiera dei vespri con il Papa è stata una grande gioia per noi, perché abbiamo visto la presenza di una moltitudine di vocazioni, di uomini e donne che hanno risposto alla chiamata del Signore secondo i diversi carismi presenti nelle varie congregazioni e ordini. Questa è una vera bellezza per la Chiesa. Il Papa ha presieduto i Vespri, accompagnato da un coro ben preparato che ci ha aiutato a pregare bene. Dopo la parola di Dio (Ebrei 10,5-7): “Eccomi Signore, sono venuto a fare la tua volontà”, il Papa ha incentrato la sua omelia sui 3 voti, mostrandoci come i voti possono diventare una luce che illumina il mondo a cui siamo inviati. Iniziando dal voto di povertà, il Papa ha ricordato che la persona consacrata, quando vive bene questo voto, evita l'egoismo e la dipendenza dai beni materiali e porta una luce di sobrietà, generosità e solidarietà. Per quanto riguarda il voto di castità, il Papa ha ricordato che il mondo di oggi sta sperimentando un senso sbagliato dell'amore caratterizzato da superficialità, egocentrismo, edonismo, immaturità e irresponsabilità morale. In tale contesto, il Papa ha ricordato ai consacrati la “crescente necessità di trasparenza nei rapporti umani” (VC 88) e di evitare di condurre una doppia vita. Infine, sul voto di obbedienza, il Papa è tornato sulla urgente necessità oggi nelle nostre comunità di imparare ad ascoltare gli altri nel dialogo quotidiano, perché secondo il Papa è attraverso l'ascolto attivo che le persone consacrate riescono a dare priorità alla volontà di Dio nella loro vita.

Il Papa ha concluso la sua omelia invitandoci a tornare alle nostre origini: il “Sì” di Cristo. Questo ritorno avviene davanti al tabernacolo attraverso l'adorazione. Le persone consacrate, secondo il Papa, devono riscoprire il significato dell'adorazione. Dopo la benedizione finale, il Papa ha salutato i religiosi e le religiose presenti. (Elvis Ndihokubwayo sx)

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, several confreres took part at 5:00 PM in the Vatican Basilica in the celebration of the First Vespers of the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord and the XXIXth World Day of Consecrated Life, presided over by Pope Francis. 

Participating in the evening prayer with the Pope was a great joy for us because we witnessed the presence of a multitude of religious men and women who responded to the call of the Lord according to the different charisms visible through congregations and orders. This is the true beauty for the Church. The Pope presided over Vespers, accompanied by an excellent choir that helped us pray well. After the reading of the word of God (Hebrews 10:5-7): "Here I am, Lord, I have come to do your will," the Pope focused his homily on the three vows, showing us how the vows can become a light that illuminates the world to which we are sent. Starting with the vow of poverty, the Pope recalled that the consecrated person, when living this vow well, avoids selfishness and dependence on material goods and carries a light of sobriety, generosity, and solidarity. Regarding the vow of chastity, the Pope reminded us that today's world is experiencing a distorted sense of love characterized by superficiality, self-centeredness, hedonism, immaturity, and moral irresponsibility. In this context, the Pope reminded the consecrated men and women of the "growing need for transparency in human relationships" (VC 88) and to avoid leading a double life. Finally, regarding the vow of obedience, the Pope reiterated the urgent need in our communities today to learn to listen to others in daily dialogue because, according to the Pope, it is through active listening that consecrated people give priority to the will of God in their lives. The Pope concluded his homily by inviting us to return to our origins: the "Yes" of Christ. This return takes place before the Tabernacle through adoration. According to the Pope, consecrated people must rediscover the meaning of adoration. After the final blessing, the Pope greeted the religious men and women. (Elvis Ndihokubwayo sx)
