Franklin - Wisconsin: nel fine settimana del 22-23 giugno, abbiamo nuovamente avuto il Mission Summer Festival. Nonostante le previsioni del tempo che promettevano pioggia, Dio è venuto in nostro aiuto donandoci un paio di giorni veramente belli (meno 20 minuti di pioggia). Molte persone, famiglie, giovani e bambini sono venuti a godersi la musica, i giochi e il buon cibo che i nostri fantastici volontari avevano preparato per loro. Personalmente, contento di vedere così tante persone; contento anche nel sentire i vari commenti: "il vostro festival non ha cambiato il suo spirito... continua ad essere un festival per le famiglie." Come in passato, poi, uno dei momenti salienti è stata la celebrazione della Santa Messa durante la quale abbiamo avuto "la consegna del crocefisso" ai due missionari partenti: P. Edgar Ruiz Leon (partente per l’Indonesia) e P. Joe Matteucig (partente per Taiwan).  Le molte persone presenti hanno fatto cerchio attorno ai due padri e hanno pregato per loro mentre Pamela e Frank, in rappresentanza di amici e benefattori, hanno imposto il crocefisso.  Quest’anno poi, questa semplice cerimonia ha assunto un valore più grande, perché è stata celebrata in vista del “Mese Missionario Straordinario - Ottobre 2019”.  Mese che richiama l’invito di Papa Francesco ad essere missionari sempre e dovunque e quando i missionari partono, questi sono sempre inviati dalla Chiesa Locale (Atti 13:2). Concludendo, il festival è stato una grande opportunità per incontrare persone, condividere il nostro spirito missionario e raccogliere fondi per le missioni. Onestamente, il successo si deve principalmente alla dedizione, alla generosità, all'energia e al tempo che i molti volontari abilmente guidati da Frank, Pamela e dal comitato organizzativo hanno investito in questi due giorni e soprattutto nei mesi e settimane precedenti. Possa il Signore continuare a benedire questi nostri amici e volontari perché senza di loro non saremmo in grado di fare ciò che facciamo. Grazie!

Franklin - Wisconsin: on the weekend of June 22-23, we hosted our annual Mission Summer Fest. Despite the weather forecast that was calling for rain, God blessed us with a couple of beautiful days (with only 20 minutes of rain). Many people, families, youth and children came to enjoy the music, the games and the good food that our fantastic volunteers had been preparing for them. Personally, I was very happy to see so many people; happy to hear so many people remarking that our festival has not changed "its spirit" for it continues to be "a family festival."  Once again, one of the highlights was the Sunday Liturgy of the Eucharist which included the "mission sending ceremony". The many people in attendance, gathered around Fr. Edgar Ruiz (assigned to Indonesia) and  Fr. Joe Matteucig  (assigned to Taiwan), and prayed over them as they received the "mission cross." This year, this simple ceremony took a greater significance, for it took place in the context of Pope Francis invitation to celebrate the "Extraordinary Missionary Month  - October 2019" in a special way. It was a reminder that we are all called to mission and missionaries are sent by the Local Church to continue the mission of Jesus (Acts 13:2). In the end, the festival was a great opportunity to meet people, to share our missionary spirit and to raise funds for the missions too. Honestly, it was a success mainly due to the dedication, the energy and the time the festival committee lead by Frank and Pamela invested as well as by the generosity of the many volunteers who gave of their time and talents to make sure that all had a safe and  enjoyable time. May God continue to bless our friends and volunteers for without them we would not be able to do what we do. Thank you!
