Il 30 aprile 2019 i pp. Alex Rodriguez e Joe Matteucig hanno partecipato a un workshop: "The Youth Synod @ ChicagoCTU" organizzato dalla Catholic Theological Union di Chicago. Presenti 80 persone, uomini e donne, laici e religiosi. Hanno guidato questo workshop Sr. Nathalie Becquart dell'Istituto Ignaziano delle Suore Xaviere (Francia), coordinatrice generale del pre-Sinodo in Francia e osservatore al Sinodo di Roma; e Yadira Vieyra Alvarez di Chicago che ha partecipato al Sinodo dei Vescovi a Roma su Giovani, Fede e Discernimento vocazionale, come uditrice in rappresentanza della comunità di immigrati negli Stati Uniti. Nel lavori di gruppo abbiamo riflettuto sul Sinodo, l’impatto e le sfide per i giovani e per la Chiesa degli Stati Uniti. Alcune riflessioni emerse dai lavori di gruppo: necessità di una disponibilità radicale sia all'ascolto che a mettersi con i giovani dove essi si trovano; creare opportunità di "incontro"; chiamati alla sequela: come aiutarli ad innamorarsi di Gesù; l'autenticità, l'accoglienza, l'ospitalità e il donarsi agli altri dovrebbero essere il segno distintivo del ministero con e tra i giovani; necessità di ministri a tempo pieno disposti a facilitare e creare opportunità di incontri significativi. Alla fine della serata siamo partiti con il desiderio di prendere in mano, leggere, condividere e implementare l'Esortazione post-Sinodale ai Giovani e all'intero Popolo di Dio: "Christus vivit ".

April 30, 2019: Frs. Alex Rodriguez and Joe Matteucig participated in a evening workshop: "The Youth Synod@ChicagoCTU" organized by the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. 80 people: men and women, lay and religious were in attendance. The presenters were: Sr. Nathalie Becquart a member the Ignatian Institute of the Xaviere Sisters (France). She was a general coordinator of the pre-Synod and an observer at the Synod; and Yadira Vieyra Alvarez from Chicago and last October she was appointed as an auditor at the Synod of Bishops in Rome on Youth People, the Faith, and Vocation Discernment, representing the immigrant community in the United States. Divided in groups we reflected on the Synod and its implications for the Youth and the Church of the United States. Some of the reflections centered on: radical availability in listening to youth and going where they are; creating opportunities for meaningful "encounter"; discipleship as an attractive style of ministry (how do we help youth fall in love with Jesus), authenticity, welcoming, hospitality, and service ought to be the hallmark of youth ministry; need for full time ministers willing to facilitate and create opportunities for meaningful mutual encounters. At the end of the evening, all left with the desire to take up, read, share and implement the Post-Synodal Exhortation to Young People and to the entire People of God ""Christus vivit".
