Sabato 28 ottobre 2023, il nostro confratello p. Franciscus Xavier Sadono Agung Widodo ha animato la giornata di riflessione e preghiera in preparazione alla festa di San Guido Maria Conforti. La meditazione - arricchita da eventi personali che tratteggiano il progressivo riconoscimento del dono della vocazione missionaria nella vita stessa del predicatore, come uomo e consacrato - si è concentrata sull’affermazione secondo la quale se il cuore del missionario “non si sente ‘toccato’ dall’amicizia del Signore Gesù, possiamo dire quello che vogliamo, possiamo fare tanti bei discorsi, ma non c’è il Suo amore. Siamo poveri”.

Il predicatore, facendo una lettura trasversale del campo semantico “cuore” nell’Antologia Confortiana, letta e annunciata con padronanza in lingua originale, ha intuito e individuato un chiasmo tematico composto da 11 frasi contenenti il termine ‘cuore’, avendo come centro l’affermazione del Fondatore “Cristo Gesù offre molto di più: Egli è capace di ‘dilatare il cuore’ ”.

Il tempo di meditazione e preghiera personale, la celebrazione dell’Eucaristia e il pranzo consumato insieme hanno fatto di questa giornata un tempo di “riposo” e ringraziamento.

On Saturday, October 28^th, 2023, our confrere, Fr. Franciscus Xavier Sadono Agung Widodo, led a day of reflection and prayer in preparation for the Feast of St Guido Maria Conforti. His meditation – enriched by personal anecdotes which outline the progressive recognition of the gift of missionary vocation in the very life of the preacher, both as a man and as consecrated person – focused on the statement according to which, if in his heart the missionary “does not feel touched by the friendship with the Lord Jesus, he can say whatever he wants and tell many beautiful things, but the love of Jesus is not in his heart. Such missionary is poor.”

By making a transversal scrutiny of the semantic field of the term “heart” in the Antologia Confortiana, read and announced with mastery in its original language, the preacher identified a thematic chiasmus composed of 11 sentences containing the term cuore (heart), a chiasmus that contains at its centre the Founder’s statement: “Cristo Gesù offre molto di più: Egli è capace di ‘dilatare il cuore’ (Christ Jesus offers much more: He is capable of ‘widening up the heart’).”

The time of meditation and personal prayer, the celebration of the Mass and the lunch together contributed to making of this day a time of “rest” and thanksgiving.
