(1935 - 2021)
Giovedì 27 maggio 2021, alle ore 18.30, nella Casa Madre, è deceduto il nostro confratello p. Sisto Da Rold sx. Aveva quasi 86 anni, essendo nato il 19 giugno 1935 a Limana (Belluno).
Proveniente dal Seminario di Feltre (Belluno), nell’agosto del 1954 il giovane Sisto entra nella casa Saveriana di San Pietro in Vincoli. Qui vive il noviziato ed emette la prima professione religiosa e missionaria (12 settembre 1955). In seguito il giovane Sisto continua con il consueto iter scolastico-formativo: liceo a Desio (1955-1958), propedeutica a Piacenza (1958-1959), prefettato a Massa Lucana (1959-1960) e teologia a Parma (1960-1964).
Viene ordinato Presbitero a Parma il 13.10.1963.
Finiti gli studi di teologia, p. Sisto viene destinato alla Scuola Apostolica di Udine come promotore vocazionale (1964-1968). Nel 1969 parte per il Congo dove è impegnato in particolare nella pastorale parrocchiale come cappellano ed economo: Kiliba (1969-1972) e cappellano a Luvungi (1972-1973).
Dopo un anno di aggiornamento a Roma-Collegio Tardini (1973-1974), p. Sisto viene destinato a Kidote dove lavora, prima, come economo e cappellano (1974-1975), poi, come parroco (1975-1980), e infine come cappellano (1980-1981). Dopo un anno di attesa a Bukavu, presta servizio come cappellano a Baraka (1982-1983).
Dopo un periodo di riposo-aggiornamento nella casa apostolica di Zelarino-Mestre, VE (1983-1985), p. Sisto ritorna in Congo dove, dal 1985 al 1993, è nuovamente impegnato nella pastorale parrocchiale come cappellano prima a Mwenga, poi a Kitutu e a Luvungi. In questo periodo viene anche incaricato di seguire le costruzioni da parte dell’economato generale della Diocesi di Uvira.
Dopo un periodo di aggiornamento (dove partecipa anche ai Tre Mesi di Tavernerio) e un anno sabbatico a Parma (1993-1995), p. Sisto viene destinato alla Circoscrizione dell’Italia con l’impegno della promozione vocazionale a Zelarino-Mestre, VE (1995-1997).
Nel 1997 ritorna in Congo dove si dedica al servizio parrocchiale come cappellano (Bukavu e Goma) ed economo locale a Bukavu. Dal 2003 al 2005 viene nuovamente incaricato delle costruzioni. Conclude il suo servizio missionario a Luvungi (2009-2011) per poi ritornare definitivamente in Italia per ragioni di salute.
Dal 2012 al 2015 p. Sisto si dedica al ministero nella comunità di Zelarino-Mestre, VE e nel 2016 nella comunità di Vicenza. Nel 2016 si trasferisce a Parma per essere meglio assistito nelle cure.
“Reverendissimo Padre, sono un umile lettore di “Fede e Civiltà”. Ho ricevuto la vostra lettera nella quale mi invitate a lavorare per le missioni. Io desidero donarmi a queste, ma Dio non ha detto l’ultima parola all’anima mia, né mi ha ancora aperto la via…Sono un giovanetto di 19 anni, di salute abbastanza buona, buono per natura, di carattere non perfetto, bisognoso soprattutto di un’ottima guida che mi sostenga e mi guidi alle vette della santità: solo non sono un buon scalatore, però con una buona guida sì…” (Dussoi di Limana, Seminarista Sisto Da Rold).
Il 27 maggio 2021, p. Sisto viene ammesso al cospetto dell’Altissimo per partecipare della vita eterna.

Rev. Fr. Sisto Da Rold died in the Xaverian Mother House of Parma on Thursday, May 27th, 2021, at 6.30 pm. Born on June 19th, 1935 in the town of Limana (Belluno), Fr. Da Rold was now 86 years old.
Coming from the Diocesan Seminary of Feltre (Belluno), in August 1954 young Sisto entered the Xaverian Missionary House of San Pietro in Vincoli (Ravenna) for the Year of Novitiate. On September 12th, 1955, Sisto Da Rold celebrated his First Religious Missionary Profession. Then, the young Sisto continued with his usual formation and scholastic process: College Studies in Desio (1955-1958), Philosophy Studies in Piacenza (1958-1959), Prefect of Xaverian Students in Massa Lucana (1959-1960) and Study of Theology in Parma (1960-1964).
Fr. Sisto Da Rold was ordained Priest in Parma on October 13rd, 1963.
At the end of his Theology Studies, Fr. Sisto was assigned to serve and minister in the Apostolic School of Udine. He was involved in the ministry of Vocation Education (1964-1968). In 1968, Fr. Sisto Da Rold left for mission work in Congo, where he was particularly involved in parish pastoral care as Assistant Parish Priest and as Procurator-Treasurer: Kiliba (1969-1972) and Assistant Parish Priest in Luvungi (1972-1973).
After a year of updating in the Rome - Tardini College (1973-1974), Fr Sisto was assigned to Kidote, where he worked, first, as Treasurer-Procurator and as Assistant Parish Priest (1974-1975), then, as Parish Priest (1975-1980), and finally as Assistant Parish Priest (1980-1981). After a year of waiting in the city of Bukavu, Fr. Sisto Da Rold, went and ministered as Assistant Parish Priest in the town of Baraka (1982-1983).
After a period of rest and updating in the Xaverian House of Zelarino-Mestre (Venice, 1983-1985), Fr. Sisto Da Rold returns to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where, from 1985 to 1993, he is again ministering as Assistant Parish Priest, first, in Mwenga, and then in Kitutu and at Luvungi. During this period Fr. Sisto is responsible for all the constructions in the Diocese of Uvira.
After another period of updating (including the Three Months in Tavernerio) and a sabbatical year in Parma (1993-1995), Fr. Sisto Da Rold was assigned to the Xaverian Italian Region ministering in the area of Vocational Formation in Zelarino-Mestre, Venice (1995-1997).
In 1997, Fr. Da Rold returns to Congo ministering in parishes as Assistant Parish Priest in Bukavu and in Goma, and also as local Treasurer in Bukavu. From 2003 to 2005, Fr. Sisto is again entrusted with the constructions. He concluded this missionary service in Luvungi (2009-2011) and returned to Italy, due to poor health conditions.
From 2012 to 2015, Fr. Sisto Da Rold ministered in all ways he could in the Xaverian Community of Zelarino-Mestre (Venice). In the year 2016 Fr. Da Rold was in the Xaverian House of Vicenza and in the same year, Fr. Da Rold moved to the Mother House of Parma, as to receive good care for his poor health conditions.
“Most Revevend Father, I am a humble reader of the magazine “Fede e Civiltà”. I have received your letter inviting me to work for the missions. I desire to give myself to the missions, but God has not said his last word to my soul, nor has he yet opened the way for me … I am a young man of 19 years of age, of fairly good health, good by nature, of not perfect character, especially in need of an excellent guide to support me and to guide me to the heights of holiness: alone I am not a good climber, but with a good guide yes ….” (Dussoi of Limana, Seminarian Sisto Da Rold).
On May 27th, 2021, Fr. Sisto Da Rold, returned to the Heavenly Father.
