Messaggio finale

“Ecco, io sono con voi tutti i giorni, fino alla fine del mondo” (Mt 28,20)

Carissimi confratelli,

1. Secondo l’orientamento del XVIICG 95, la COSUMA-Africa ha avuto luogo a Bukavu (RDC) dal 25 aprile al 2 maggio 2019. Il tema proposto era: “In continuità col XVI et XVII CG, quali risposte, come Saveriani, alla missione ad gentes in Africa?”. Durante questo incontro di famiglia, abbiamo tentato di rispondere a questa domanda individuando alcuni orientamenti pratici. Questi ultimi partono dalla chiarezza carismatica. Noi, partecipanti della COSUMA, siamo convinti che ciò che l’Africa attende da noi è “di essere testimoni di Cristo come missionari ad gentes nella Consacrazione religiosa”.

2. Ecco la lista dei temi che sono stati oggetto della nostra riflessione:
3. Scoprire la nostra identità saveriana: la missione ad gentes vissuta nella consacrazione religiosa, in Africa.
4. Inserimento e collaborazione con la Chiesa locale.
5. Formazione iniziale e permanente.
6. Presa a carico e gestione dei beni materiali.
7. Laicato missionario saveriano.
8. Collaborazione all’interno del nostro Istituto.
9. Cambiamento di statuto giuridico delle Circoscrizioni.
10. Varia: Protezione dei minori; Anniversario delle nostre Costituzioni e della Lettera Testamento; Traduzione in Francese dell’antologia di San Guido Maria Conforti; Riedizione della Biografia di Guido Maria Conforti redatta da P. Augusto Luca.

3. Ringraziamo sinceramente la Regione della R.D. Congo che ci ha offerto l’ambiente ideale per il nostro incontro. L’accoglienza e i servizi di cui abbiamo usufruito, ci hanno permesso di sperimentare lo spirito di famiglia caro a noi Saveriani. Per di più, ringraziamo i confratelli di questa Regione per la loro presenza costante accanto al popolo congolese, nonostante le situazioni di disagio che sussistono in questo bel paese. Ringraziamo pure i padri Janvier Busizori e Antoine Mushagalusa che hanno brillantemente assunto l’incarico di attuari.

4. Ascoltando i rapporti delle Circoscrizioni, siamo stati edificati da ciò che il Signore sta compiendo in Africa grazie al servizio missionario dei nostri confratelli. Ecco perché le loro situazioni sono state presenti nel nostro cuore e nelle nostre preghiere: i loro apostolati missionari, le loro gioie, le loro pene, le difficoltà personali o comunitarie...

5. Lavoriamo in Africa in contesti sociopolitici a volte difficili: conflitti, guerre (Burundi, R.D. Congo e Camerun-Ciad), povertà, disastri naturali come quelli della Sierra Leone e, recentemente, del Mozambico. Eppure, la scelta dei confratelli è sempre stata senza ambiguità: rimanere solidari col popolo al quale siamo stati inviati. Questa scelta ha reso credibile il nostro annuncio evangelico. Desideriamo confermarlo e consolidarlo perché ci rende conformi al Cristo, buon Pastore che non abbandona i suoi (cf. Gv. 10,12).

6. Durante il nostro incontro con i laici missionari saveriani della R.D. Congo, questi ultimi ci hanno ricordato un proverbio della saggezza africana: “Quando cammini nella foresta, se guardi indietro e vedi che nessuno ti segue, significa che hai sbagliato strada”. Guardando dietro a noi e attorno a noi, come saveriani presenti in Africa, ci rendiamo conto con gioia che non abbiamo sbagliato strada. Molti giovani ci seguono, come testimonia la loro presenza nelle nostre case di formazione. Questi giovani assicurano la continuità della nostra famiglia. E non è tutto. Sempre di più, i laici scoprono il nostro carisma missionario ad gentes come un cammino di felicità e di santità.

7. L’esperienza delle circoscrizioni d’Africa conferma che le buone notizie abbondano nella nostra Congregazione. A quelli che, fra noi, hanno paura del futuro, desideriamo assicurare che in Africa, il Signore non manca di benedire la nostra famiglia religiosa. Infatti, grazie alla testimonianza missionaria dei confratelli, molte persone si aprono alla fede al Cristo. Prossimamente, la Regione del Camerun-Ciad aprirà una nuova presenza missionaria in Ciad, nel vicariato di Mongo, una vera periferia geografica ed esistenziale. In questo senso, desideriamo rispondere all’invito di papa Francesco. Anche la delegazione del Mozambico è in procinto di accogliere i giovani candidati missionari saveriani. Vediamo in queste modeste iniziative, un segno della disinvoltura, della vitalità e dell’attualità del nostro carisma. Questo è per noi motivo di vera gioia. E vi invitiamo a gioire nel Signore (cf. Fil 4,4).

8. Cari confratelli, la speranza che ci anima e che condividiamo con voi dopo questo incontro, non ci impedisce di rilevare qualche punto di fragilità. Eccone qualcuno: la resistenza al cambiamento, la paura di unirsi o di modificare lo statuto giuridico della circoscrizione, la dipendenza economica esterna delle nostre circoscrizioni, la difficoltà a inserirsi nei programmi pastorali delle diocesi senza tuttavia perdere la nostra identità carismatica missionaria... Siamo convinti che grazie alla conversione di noi tutti e al consolidamento del processo di discernimento già iniziato nella Congregazione, il Signore ci aiuterà a sorpassare queste fragilità. È il Padrone della Messe. Non ci abbandonerà. Cammina con noi ovunque, fino alla fine del mondo (cf. Mt 28,10). Che la preghiera e l’intercessione del nostro santo Fondatore Guido M. Conforti e quella dei nostri martiri del Congo e del Burundi ci accompagni.

« Voici…je suis avec vous, jusqu’à la fin des temps (Mt 28,20)

Chers confrères,

1. Sur orientation du XVII^eCG, n°95, la Cosuma-Afrique a eu lieu à Bukavu / RDCongo du 25/04 au 02/05/2019. Le thème choisi était : « En continuité avec les XVI^e et XVII^e chapitres généraux,, quelle réponse, en tant que Xavériens, à la mission Ad Gentes en Afrique ? ». Pendant cette rencontre de famille, nous avons tenté de répondre à cette question en désignant certaines orientations pratiques. Celles-ci ont pour point de départ la clarté charismatique. Nous, les participants, sommes convaincus que ce que l’Afrique attend de nous c’est « d’être des témoins  du Christ comme  missionnaires Ad Gentes dans la Consécration religieuse ».
2. Voici la liste des thèmes qui ont fait l’objet de nos partages :

2. Insertion et collaboration avec l’Eglise locale
3. Formation de base et permanente

6. Collaboration à l’intérieur de notre Institut
7. Changement de statut juridique de circonscriptions

1. Nous remercions de tout cœur la Région de la RDCongo qui nous a offert un cadre favorable pour notre rencontre. Leur accueil et les services dont nous avonsbénéficié nous ont permis d’expérimenter l’esprit de famille cher à nous Xavériens.  En plus, nous les remercionspour leur présence constante en compagnie du peuple congolais, malgré les situations de détresse qui perdurent dans ce beau pays. Nos remerciements vont aussi au Père Janvier Busizori et au Père Antoine  Mushagalusa Biregeyi qui ont magnifiquement assumé la charge des actuaires.
2. En écoutant les rapports des circonscriptions, nous avons été édifiés par ce que le Seigneur est en train d’accomplir en Afrique grâce au service missionnaire de nos confrères. Voilà pourquoi, leurs situations sont restées présentes dans nos esprits et nos prières : leurs apostolats missionnaires, leurs joies, leurs peines,  leurs difficultés personnelles ou communautaires…
3. Nous travaillons en Afrique dans des contextes sociopolitiques parfois difficiles : conflits, guerres (Burundi, RDCongo et Cameroun-Tchad), pauvreté, désastres naturels comme le cas de la Sierra Leone  et récemment au Mozambique. Pourtant, le choix des confrères a toujours été sans ambigüité : rester solidaires avec les peuples auxquels nous sommes envoyés. Ce choix a rendu crédible notre annonce de l’Evangile. Nous voulons le confirmer et le consolider  car il nous conforme au Christ, bon Pasteur qui n’abandonne pas les siens (Jn 10, ).
4. Lors de notre rencontre avec les laïcs missionnaires xavériens de la RDCongo, ils nous ont rappelé un adage de la sagesse africaine qui dit : «  Lorsque tu marches dans la forêt et si tu regardes derrière et vois que personne ne te suit, ce que tu t’es trompé de chemin ». En regardant derrière nous et autour de nous,  comme xavériens travaillant en Afrique, nous constatons avec bonheur que nous ne nous sommes pas trompés de chemin. Beaucoup de jeunes nous suivent comme en témoigne leur présence dans nos maisons de formation. Ces jeunes assurent la continuité de notre famille ( C.) Et ce n’est pas tout. De plus en plus, les laïcs découvrent notre charisme missionnaire Ad Gentes comme un chemin de bonheur et de sanctification.
5. L’expérience des circonscriptions d’Afrique atteste que les bonnes nouvelles abondent dans notre congrégation. A ceux d’entre nous qui ont peur de l’avenir, nous rassurons qu’en Afrique, le Seigneur ne cesse de bénir notre famille religieuse. En effet, grâce au témoignage missionnaires des confrères, beaucoup de personnes s’ouvrent à la foi au Christ.  Bientôt, la Région du Cameroun-Tchad ouvrira une nouvelle présence missionnaire au Tchad dans le vicariatde Mongo,  une véritable périphérie géographique et existentielle. En ce sens, nous répondons aux appels du Pape François. Aussi, la délégation du Mozambique est au point d’accueillir les jeunes candidats missionnaires xavériens. Nous voyons dans ces gestes modestes, le signe de la vitalité et  de l’actualité de notre charisme. Nous nous en réjouissons. Et nous vous invitons à vous réjouir dans le Seigneur (Ph 4 : 4 ).
6. Chers confrères, l’espérance qui nous habite et que nous partageons avec vous après cette rencontre, ne nous empêche pas de relever quelques points de fragilités. En voici quelques uns :la résistance au changement, la peur de s’unir ou de la modification du statut juridique de la circonscription, la dépendance économique extérieure de nos circonscriptions, la difficulté à s’insérer dans les programmes pastoraux des diocèses sans toutefois perdre notre identité charismatique missionnaire…Nous sommes convaincus que grâce à la conversion de nous tous et au renforcement du processus du discernementdéjà entamé dans la Congrégation, le Seigneur nous aidera à dépasser ces fragilités. Il est le Maitre de la moisson (…). Il ne saurait nous abandonner. Il fait route avec nous partout, en tout jusqu’à la fin des temps ( Mt 28, 20) La prière et l’intercession de notre saint Fondateur Guido M. Conforti et celle de nos martyrs du Congo et du Burundi nous accompagnent.

FINAL MESSAGE

“... I am with you always, until the end of time” (Mt 28, 20)

Dear confreres,

1. On orientation of the XVII GC, n. 95, the continental COSUMA of Africa took place in Bukavu, D.R. Congo from 25 April  to 02 May 2019. The theme chosen was: "In continuity with the sixteenth and seventeenth general chapters, what answer, as Xaverians, to the mission Ad Gentes in Africa? ". During this family meeting, we tried to answer this question by pointing out some practical orientations. These are based on the charismatic clarity. We, the participants, are convinced that what Africa expects of us is "to be witnesses of Christ as missionaries Ad Gentes in consecrated life".

Here is the list of topics, objets of our meeting:

1. Rediscover our Xaverian identity: the mission Ad Gentes lived in consecrated life in Africa.
2. Insertion and collaboration with the local Church.
3. Initial and Ongoing formation.
4. Self-reliance and management of material assets.
5. Xaverian missionary laity.
6. Collaboration inside our Institute.
7. Change of juridical status of circumscriptions.
8. Varia: - Protection of minors; - Anniversary of our Constitutions and Testament Letter - Translation into French of the anthology of St. Guido M. Conforti - Re-edition of the Biography of Guido M. Conforti by Augusto Luca ....

1. We sincerely thank the DR Congo Region for providing us with a favourable environment for our meeting. Their welcome and the services we received have allowed us to experience the family spirit dear to us Xaverians. In addition, we thank them for their constant presence in the company of the Congolese people, despite the conflits that persist in this beautiful country. Our thanks also go to Father Janvier Busizori and Father Antoine Mushagalusa Biregeyi who have wonderfully assumed the work of secretary.

2. By listening to circumscriptions’ reports, we have been edified by what the Lord is doing in Africa through the missionary service of our confreres. That is why their situations have remained in our minds and prayers: their missionary apostolates, their joys, their sorrows, their personal or community difficulties ...

3. We work in Africa in the midst of difficult socio-political contexts such as: conflicts, wars (Burundi, DR Congo and Cameroon-Chad), poverty, natural disasters like the case of Sierra Leone and recently in Mozambique. However, the choice of confreres has always been unambiguous: to remain in solidarity with the people to whom we are sent. This choice made our announcement of the gospel credible. We want to confirm and consolidate it because it conforms us to Christ, a good Shepherd who does not abandon his own (Jn 10,11).

4. During our meeting with the Xaverian missionary laity in Bukavu, R.D. Congo, they reminded us of an adage of African wisdom that says, "When you walk in the forest and look behind and see that no one is following you, it means you are on a wrong way”. Looking behind us and around us, as Xaverians working in Africa, we are happy to see that we are not mistaken. Many young people follow us as evidenced by their presence in our homes of formation. These young people ensure the continuity of our family (C.) And that's not all. More and more, lay people are discovering our missionary charism Ad Gentes as a way of happiness and sanctification.

5. The experience of the African Circumscriptions attests that good news abounds in our congregation. To those of us who are afraid of the future, we reassure that in Africa, the Lord continues to bless our religious family. Indeed, thanks to the missionary witness of the confreres, many people open themselves to faith in Christ. Soon, the Region of Cameroon-Chad will open a new missionary presence in Chad in the vicariate of Mongo, a real geographical and existential periphery. In this sense, we respond to the calls of Pope Francis. Also, the Mozambique delegation is at the point of welcoming the young Xaverian missionary candidates. In these modest gestures we see the sign of the vitality and timeliness of our charism. We are happy. And we invite you to rejoice in the Lord (Phil 4: 4).

6. Dear confreres, the hope that moves us and that we share with you after this meeting, does not prevent us from taking up some points of weakness. Here are some of them: the resistance to change, the fear of unifying or changing the juridical status of the circumscription, the external economic dependence of our circumscriptions, the difficulty of integrating into the pastoral programs of the dioceses without losing our missionary charismatic identity ... We are convinced that through the conversion of all of us and the strengthening of the process of discernment already begun in the Congregation, the Lord will help us to overcome these weaknesses. He is the Master of the harvest (...). He cannot abandon us. He journeys with us everywhere, in all we undertake until the end of time (Mt 28, 20) The prayer and intercession of our holy Founder Guido M. Conforti and that of our martyrs of Congo and Burundi accompany us.
