REPORT OF THE DELEGATION OF MOZAMBIQUE

“The Xaverians arrived in Mozambique on 2 March 1998, upon the invitation of the Archbishop of Beira, dom Jaime Pedro Gonçalves, to animate the urban parishes of Dondo and Chemba; a few years later, we were also in the rural area of Sena, which is very far from the center of the diocese. The following year, Fr. Giuseppe Mauri went to the parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Chibututuine (archdiocese of Maputo), to the community animated by the Missionary Center of Piombino. In 2005, the bishop of Tete asked us to animate the parish of Charre (which had been abandoned) which is close to Sena but very far from Tete. We found a living and committed Church of people dedicated to the service of peace and national reconciliation. With great joy we saw the Holy Spirit at work in many gestures of fraternity and sharing, above all in convinced way in which many community animators witnessed and proclaimed their faith to their brothers and sisters”.
