REPORT OF THE SPANISH DELEGATION

Our societies are experiencing very profound socio-cultural changes, which produce uncertainty. Among the various causes, or factors, of these changes, is the large presence of immigrants in our midst, people from other cultural-religious horizons, and this could promote a positive situation-attitude of openness in our Christian communities. We are living in a situation of social indifference towards the religious-Christian reality, and an “ecclesial winter”, which leads the local Churches to look inwards and, in so doing, they focus mainly on worship, liturgy and ritual, and frequently neglect the social dimension. Our local Churches have withdrawn into themselves at theological and pastoral levels, in the relationship between the parish and the mission, evangelization and the ad gentes dimension. Certain ecclesial sectors have laid aside, or even doubt, some teachings of Vatican II.
