Dal 10 al 14 marzo 2025, l’Istituto Comprensivo A. Moscati di Pontecagnano Faiano (Salerno) si è trasformato in un palcoscenico di ombre e magia con un laboratorio dedicato al Wayang Kulit, il suggestivo teatro delle ombre giavanese.

Ben 190 alunni hanno preso parte all’esperienza, suddivisi in tre classi al giorno, con sessioni intense di un’ora e mezza ciascuna. L’incontro è iniziato con un’introduzione coinvolgente alla tradizione del Wayang Kulit: una finestra su personaggi, simbologie culturali e religiose che animano questa straordinaria forma d’arte.

Il gran finale si è tenuto il 14 marzo nell’aula magna dell’istituto, dove gli studenti hanno potuto assistere a uno spettacolo teatrale, culmine di questo viaggio nel mondo delle ombre. Il laboratorio è stato condotto con passione dal nostro confratello Aditya Yudistira Willybrordus, con il supporto instancabile dei Laici Saveriani di Salerno.

Ma non è finita qui: sabato sera, nella casa Saveriana, lo spettacolo è andato in scena ancora una volta, stavolta davanti a un pubblico di circa cinquanta adulti, portando anche a loro il fascino e il mistero del Wayang Kulit. (Ferdinandus Supandri sx)

From March 10^th to 14^th, 2025, the Istituto Comprensivo A. Moscati in Pontecagnano Faiano (Salerno) was transformed into a stage of shadows and magic with a workshop dedicated to Wayang Kulit, the enchanting Javanese shadow theatre. 

As many as 190 pupils took part in the experience. They were divided into three classes per day, with intense sessions of one and a half hour each. The event began with an enticing introduction into the tradition of Wayang Kulit: a focus on the characters, cultural and religious symbolisms embedded in this unique art form.

The great ending took place on March 14^th in the auditorium of the Instituto where students could enjoy a theatrical show, culmination of that journey in the world of shadow plays. The workshop was led with passion by our confrere Aditya Yudistira Willybrordus and supported by the untiring Xaverian Laity in Salerno. 

But this was not all: Saturday evening, in the Xaverian House, the show took to the stage once again; this time it was in front of an audience of about fifty adults. They too were given the chance of experiencing the lure and mystery of Wayang Kulit. (Ferdinandus Supandri sx)
