Personalmente, la Messa di ringraziamento per la beatificazione dei nostri quattro martiri (Vittorio Faccin, Giovani Didonè, Luigi Carrara e Albert Joubert) è stata un'occasione anche per rivedere e ripensare le mie motivazioni vocazionali e missionarie. Trovandomi nella tappa di formazione di base, sto imparando e sperimentando che la consacrazione e l'evangelizzazione richiedono gioia e amore. Il prefetto del Dicastero per la Causa dei Santi, Card. Marcello Semeraro, nella sua omilia ha sottolineato con forza che il Vangelo si annuncia con gioia: i 4 martiri sono rimasti saldi e irremovibili, prodigandosi sempre nell'opera del Signore, sapendo che la loro fatica non era vana nel Signore (Cfr. 1Cor15, 58). Anche se sono morti nel cuore della loro giovinezza, vedendoli, anch’io mi sento chiamato ad amare il Vangelo e a perseverare fino alla fine. Non hanno abbandonato il luogo della loro missione nonostante le vicissitudini. Hanno fatto dono totale di sé, confidando nella Sua grazia e Provvidenza. La loro vita non è andata perduta. È una fonte viva e inesauribile per vivere il Vangelo nella vita quotidiana. E mentre ringrazio di tutto cuore il Signore per il dono di questi fratelli martiri, mi sento spinto a vivere la vocazione missionaria e il dono dell'unità nella diversità. È il Signore a raccomandarci l'unità “affinché siano tutti uno, come tu, o Padre, sei in me e io in te” (Gv 17,21). (Dieudonné Twahirwa sx)

Personally, the Mass of thanksgiving for the beatification of our four martyrs (Vittorio Faccin, Giovani Didonè, Luigi Carrara and Albert Joubert) has been an occasion for reviewing and thinking again about the motivations for my missionary vocation. I am at the initial stage of formation, and I am learning and experiencing that consecration and evangelization require joy and love.  The Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Card. Marcello Semeraro, in his homily has powerfully highlighted that “the Gospel must be proclaimed with joy: our four martyrs remained steadfast and unwavering, always exerting themselves in the Lord’s work, knowing that, in the Lord, their toiling was not in vain (see 1Cor 15: 58). Even if they died in the prime of their lives, as I look at them, I too feel called to love the Gospel and persevere till the end. Despite the turn of events, they did not abandon the place of their mission. They made a total gift of themselves, trusting in His grace and Providence. Their life was not lost. In fact, it is living and an inexhaustible source for living the Gospel every day. While I thank whole-heartedly the Lord for the gift of these brothers and martyrs, I feel driven to live out my missionary vocation and the gift of unity in diversity. It is the Lord himself who recommends us unity, “that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you” (John 17: 21). (Dieudonné Twahirwa s.x.)
