LA PRIMA PARROCCHIA AD ACCOGLIERE I SAVERIANI IN SUOLO CIADIANO (1982)
Domenica 5 giugno 2023 rimarrà impressa nella memoria del cuore di molti, grazie alla celebrazione eucaristica che ha illuminato la parrocchia di San Giovanni Evangelista a Gounou-Gaya, della diocesi di Pala, e i Missionari Saveriani della regione del Camerun-Ciad. Infatti, questa celebrazione, presieduta dal vescovo di Pala, Mons. Dominique Tinoudji, è stata l'occasione per rendere grazie per i 40 anni di dedizione dei missionari Saveriani in Ciad. Questo evento ha avuto un significato particolare poiché ha segnato anche la conclusione della nostra presenza in questa parrocchia che fu la prima ad accogliere i Saveriani in suolo ciadiano nel 1982. Durante l’Eucaristia, p. Sergio Galimberti sx ha salutato la comunità parrocchiale per intraprendere la sua nuova missione come Vicario Generale della Diocesi di Pala. Ecco alcune parole pronunciate dal pastore della diocesi nella sua l'omelia:
“Oggi diciamo addio ai missionari Saveriani che hanno lavorato in questa località e che stanno lasciando la parrocchia di Gounou-Gaya (…). I missionari Saveriani hanno lavorato molto affinché il Vangelo attaccasse in questa terra di missione. Dare il Vangelo ai Moussey in Moussey è stata la loro priorità. Possiamo notare con soddisfazione l'amore per la cultura Moussey che è molto presente nel lavoro missionario dei Saveriani (…). Il missionario è colui che si avvicina alla cultura dell'altro, la conoscenza della cultura favorisce molto il lavoro di evangelizzazione. Questo esempio è ciò che troviamo tra i saveriani, soprattutto tra molti di quelli che sono passati qui.” (Adriano Cunha Lima sx)

ST JOHN THE EVANGELIST – GOUNOU-GAYA, CHAD (Diocese of Pala)
THE FIRST PARISH TO WELCOME THE XAVERIANS IN CHADIAN LAND (1982)
Thanks to the Eucharistic celebration that brightened up St John the Evangelist Parish in Gounou-Gaya (Diocese of Pala) and the Xaverian Missionaries of the Cameroon-Chad region, Sunday, June 5th, 2023, will remain engraved in the memory of many. Presided over by the bishop of Pala, Mons. Dominique Tinoudji, the celebration was the occasion for thanking the Xaverian missionaries after 40 years of ministry in Chad. Moreover, the event acquired a particular significance for it marked the conclusion of our Xaverian presence in that parish – the first to welcome the Xaverians in Chadian soil in 1982. During the Mass, Fr. Sergio Galimberti s.x. bade farewell to the parish community for he is about to begin his new mission as General Vicar of the Diocese of Pala. Here are some words from the homily of the shepherd of the diocese:
“Today we say goodbye to the Xaverian missionaries who worked in this locality and who are leaving the parish of Gounou-Gaya (…). The Xaverian Missionaries have worked hard in order for the Gospel to take roots in this land of mission. Giving the Gospel to the Moussey people in Moussey language has been their priority. It is with satisfaction that we notice the love for Moussey culture that is very much present in the missionary work of the Xaverians (…). A missionary is one who gets closer to the culture of others; knowledge of the culture facilitates the work of evangelisation. This example is what we find among the Xaverians, especially among many of those who came over here.” (Adriano Cunha Lima s.x.)
