Esemplare figura di Coadiutore Saveriano, Servitore dei Fratelli e votato alla santità. Di anni 58. (Sepolto a Parma).
Era nato a Vedelago (TV) il 31.V.1903 da una famiglia molto cristiana. Da giovane aveva lavorato come falegname, contadino ed era stato anche in servizio presso l’"Opera Bonomelli" di Bolzano. Prestò servizio militare per 18 mesi a Savona nel 41° Reggim. Fanteria, 4° Comp. Mitraglieri.
Sentendo vivamente la Vocazione missionaria, scrisse all’Istituto Saveriano per essere accettato come Fratello Coadiutore e chiedendo in grazia di poter entrare il 10 Maggio in onore della Madonna: era il 1930; aveva 27 anni. L’accolse paternamente Mons. Conforti, ed egli in seguito amerà raccontare tale incontro con sorprendente vivezza e precisione di particolari:
"Era un pomeriggio, il 10 Maggio... Scendevo lo scalone centrale con a fianco il Sostituto Generale, P. Giovanni Bonardi: nel corridoio Mons. Conforti mi chiese subito amabilmente se ero io il Fratello che si aspettava. Risposi di si. Ed il Santo Fondatore continuò dolcemente: ‘Se sarà volontà di Dio, resterai con noi e diventerai un santo Fratello. La santità sta nel fare la volontà di Dio nello stato di vita in cui la sua amorosa provvidenza ci ha chiamati’. Non ho più dimenticato quelle prime parole del Santo Fondatore. Fino allora mi ero dato tutto alla famiglia; da quel momento mi sono dato tutto a Dio..."
Emessa la Professione il 3.XII.1931 chiese la "grazia specialissima di essere mandato in Missione". Accettò, ugualmente contento, di rimanere in Italia per prestare la sua preziosa attività nelle Case dell’Istituto.
L’obbedienza lo destinò come cuoco e addetto ai lavori a Massa Lucana (1932), come cuoco in Casa Madre (1934), come cuoco e questuante a Massa Lucana (1938), come portinaio in Casa Madre (1940-52). Durante questi ultimi dodici anni ebbe modo di impegnare la sua volontà nell’esercizio della carità. Egli non era per temperamento affabile e mite; ma con grande impegno si sforzò di diventarlo attendendo al faticoso e delicato ufficio di portinaio.
Dal 1952 al 1960 trascorse otto anni nella Casa di Zelarino, addetto alla Casa ed ai campi. Chi scrive ricorda la profonda impressione di bontà e di fedeltà ricevuta nel vedere quotidianamente Fr. Giovanni passare dall’orto alla Cappella con serenità. Altra caratteristica la raccolsi nei giri di questua delle mele lungo la zona litoranea veneta: i contadini accoglievano con rispetto quella veneranda figura di missionario con la lunga barba circondata di mistero e di sofferenza.
Richiamato in Casa Madre per malattia e ricoverato nel Sanatorio del Clero in Arco per una cura intensiva dei polmoni, gli fu diagnosticato il vero male che lo affliggeva: tumore al polmone. Mori piamente nell’Infermeria della Casa Madre a Parma il 27.VIII.1961.

Br. Giovanni Andreazza died at the Mother House in Parma on Aug. 27 1961, because of lung cancer. He was 58 years old, born on May 31 1903 at Vedelago (Treviso).
He grew up in a Christian family, and worked as farmer and carpenter, volunteering his time at the “Opera Bonomelli” of Bolzano. He served in the military for 18 months. He wrote to the Xaverians in Parma, wanting to be accepted as a Brother and on May 1, honoring our Lady. He was 27 years old on that May 1 1930.
Bishop Conforti welcomed him into the Mother House, and Br. Giovanni remembers in detail that encounter: “It’s was the afternoon of May 1, 1930… As I was coming down the central stairs with Fr. Giovanni Bonardi, Vicar-General, I met Msgr. Conforti in the hallway who lovingly asked me if I was the Brother they were waiting for. I answered “yes.” And the Holy Founder continued with his sweet words: ‘If it is the will of God, you’ll be with us and become a Holy Brother. True holiness is to do the will of God in the state of life that the loving providence of God has called us.” I never forgot these first few words of our Holy Founder. Till then, I gave myself to my family. From then on, I gave my all to God…”
He professed religious vows on Dec. 3 1931, asking for the “special grace to be sent to the missions.” Yet, he accepted equally to serve in Italy in various Xaverian houses. He was cook and supervisor of works at Massa Lucana (1932), cook at the Mother House (1934), cook and provider at Massa Lucana (1938), and door keeper at the Mother House (140-52). He served in many works of charity, even though at times he was not meek.
From 1952 to 1960 he spent 8 years in Zelarino, working around the house and in the fields, teaching with his great example his committed life of service and prayer to the students. Many of the farmers of the area would gladly donate their products to that holy missionary Brother with a long bear.
Br. Giovanni moved to the Mother House in 1960 because of illness: he was diagnosed with a tumor on his lung, which required intensive treatment at the Health Center for Clergy at Arco. He died peacefully at the Mother House on Aug. 27 1961.
