(Diego Piovani, “Missionari Saveriani”).

BRESCIA, ITALY, 5 November: a dialogue between the past, present and future
There’s always a first time. And for the Xaverians in Brescia, this took place on 5 November, on the Feast Day of St Guido Maria Conforti, Founder of the Congregation. The community of S. Cristo brought together the group of volunteers who are most regularly present in the house each week, to extend the Family on this special day.
Fr Gianni Brentegani, rector of the community, welcomed volunteers and staff, referring to the conference on ‘The Human Face of the Xaverian’ which took place in June at the Mother House in Parma: “On the face of each of us should be reflected all those elements of humanity that you too can help us to develop. St Conforti found the seed of his vocation before the Crucifix; the same is true for us, and that vocation is to a Christian life as you interpret it – one which also includes the desire to spread the Gospel beyond our borders.” Fr Gianni spoke openly to those present, acknowledging that those who work alongside the Xaverians are also aware of their frailties: “Help us to overcome them, to be able to reach out to one another. And may our encounters always be like those within a family, in friendship: how can we improve, how can we help one another?” These questions sparked a fruitful, open, sincere and constructive dialogue between the past, present and future.
