(p. U.S.A DELEGATION: Religious-Missionary Life in the Life of the Local Church

Our Delegation held this year’s Retreat and Annual Assembly in the Redemptorist Retreat House in Wisconsin on October 25 – 29. The theme of the Assembly “Religious-Missionary Life in the Life of the Local Church” The Retreat was in two days guided by the Most Rev. Donald Hying – Bishop, Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin. The Bishop dwelt his talks and input around the Christological/Kenotic hymn of the Philippians 2:6-11. He began with Jesus’ humanity in his Incarnation towards his Passion – Death – Resurrection - Exaltation and the Eucharist. The Bishop’s thoughts and presentations were profound and simple yet engaging and inspiring to us.

The following days were dedicated to the Delegation’s agenda and concerns: sharing experiences regarding our ministries and responsibilities; a presentation on the topic of the safeguarding, abuse and protection of minors; sharing the Report of the Conference on the Human Face of the Xaverian; an exchange of ideas and projects for Vocational Ministry; a review of the financial situation of our communities; the report by the Delegate Superior and preparations for the next meeting of COSUMA America.

Though we are a small Delegation yet we see the significance and strengths of our presence in this vast country of United States. Our meeting was a joyous moment of fraternity, friendship, reflections, listening, prayers and favorable haven of rest and delicious meals. (Fr. Vivinio Jr Matugas Buhawe sx).
