Abbiamo visitato le missioni di Fadugu e Kabala. I confratelli che lavorano nella missione di Mongo Bendugu, a 4 ore di macchina da Kabala per strade molto difficili, sono scesi a Kabala. Queste missioni si trovano nel distretto del Koinadugu e i Saveriani vi lavorano da tantissimi anni. Ogni missione ha varie succursali, spesso dotate anche di piccole cappelle. Alcune di esse sono molto lontane. In questo distretto sono parlati il Limba (Fadugu e Kabala) e il Kuranko (Kabala e Mongo Bendugu). Molte sono anche le scuole costruite dai confratelli. Poiché, dall'inizio dell’epidemia di ebola, le scuole sono rimaste chiuse, e ancora non è prevedibile quando potranno riaprire, molti insegnanti "comunitari", cioè pagati dalla comunità alla quale appartiene la scuola, sono rimasti senza stipendio, con grave danno anche per le loro famiglie. Questo è uno dei tantissimi problemi causati da questa epidemia. Sembra, dalle statistiche, che essa si stia notevolmente indebolendo.
Le comunità cristiane sia di Fadugu che di Kabala, attraverso i loro rappresentanti, ci hanno insistentemente ringraziato perché tutti i nostri confratelli sono rimasti fermi al loro posto, confortandoli e sostenendoli in questi lunghi ed estenuanti mesi. E' un ringraziamento che va allo spirito saveriano!

We have visited the missions of Fadugu and Kabala. The confreres who work in the mission of Mongo Bendugu (a four-hour car journey from Kabala on very difficult roads) came down to Kabala. These missions are located in the district of Koinadugu and the Xaverians have been working there for very many years. Every mission has various outstations, which in many cases are equipped with small chapels. Some of them are very far away. The languages spoken in this district are Limba (Fadugu and Kabala) and Kuranko (Kabala and Mongo Bendugu). There are also many schools that were built by our confreres. Since the schools have been closed since the outbreak of the Ebola epidemic, and it is not yet known when they will be reopened, many “community” teachers (paid by the community to which the school belongs) have been left without pay, to the great detriment of their families. This is one of the many problems caused by the epidemic. A statistical analysis seems to suggest that the epidemic has been considerably weakened.
The representatives of the Christian communities of Fadugu and Kabala have repeatedly thanked us for the fact that all our confreres have remained at their posts, giving them comfort and support during these long and exhausting months. It is a thank you to the Xaverian spirit!
