La settimana dal 19 al 22 gennaio è stata dedicata all'Assemblea di regione. Essa è iniziata con il Ritiro Spirituale predicato da p. Eugenio Pulcini. Si è poi entrati nell'OdG dell'Assemblea che ha previsto i seguenti temi: Il cammino della Congregazione dopo il XVI Capitolo Generale, Presentazione della Ratio Formationis Xaverianae come strumento per approfondire la conoscenza del carisma saveriano e acquisire gli atteggiamenti necessari per viverlo; incontri con i confratelli recentemente arrivati in Sierra Leone e con quelli che vi operano da molti anni, Lavori di gruppo sul tema della Formazione Permanente e sul futuro della Animazione Vocazionale e della Formazione di candidati alla vita saveriana; varie; intervista alla Direzione Generale su argomenti riguardanti la vita della Congregazione.
I confratelli si sono confrontati anche su come procedere nel modo migliore per l'uso delle risorse economiche che hanno abbondantemente ricevuto da ogni parte del mondo per l'emergenza Ebola. L'Assemblea si è conclusa con la Celebrazione Eucaristica, presieduta da Padre Generale. Dopo l'Eucarestia ci siamo tutti recati al cimitero della Domus e abbiamo pregato per i confratelli che qui riposano in pace.
L'epidemia di Ebola sembra diminuire: ogni sera ascoltiamo con apprensione i dati del giorno, forniti via cellulare dal Governo: nuovi casi, deceduti, luoghi dove è avvenuto il contagio. I Distretti dove l'Ebola sta scomparendo, per favorirne la definitiva scomparsa, sono stati chiusi per 2 settimane. Tra questi Distretti vi è anche il Koinadugu, dove operano alcuni nostri confratelli. Per rientrare nelle loro missioni hanno bisogno di un pass speciale. I problemi sociali che l'Ebola lascerà nel paese sono davvero molti: i confratelli ci stanno riflettendo.

The Region held its Assembly in the week 19-22 January. It began with a Spiritual Retreat directed by Fr. Eugenio Pulcini. The Assembly then got down to dealing with its Agenda: the Congregation’s journey after the XVI General Chapter; Presentation of the Ratio Formationis Xaverianae as a tool for deepening our knowledge of the Xaverian charism and for cultivating the necessary attitudes for living it out; meetings between the recently arrived confreres in Sierra Leone and those who have been working here for many years; group work on Ongoing Formation and the future of Vocation Animation and Formation of candidates to Xaverian life; AOB; interview with the General Direction on topics concerning the Congregation’s life.
The confreres also exchanged ideas on how to manage in the best possible way the abundant financial resources they received from all over the world for the Ebola emergency. The Assembly ended with the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Superior General. After the Eucharist, we all paid a visit to the Domus cemetery and prayed for the confreres buried there.
The Ebola epidemic seems to be diminishing: we listen apprehensively to the daily information provided by the Government via mobile telephone: new cases, deaths and places where the infection has broken out. The Districts where Ebola seems to be diminishing have been closed for two weeks to favor its eradication. Among these is the District of Koinadugu, where some of our confreres are working. They will need a special pass in order to be able to return to their missions. Ebola will leave many social problems in its wake and the confreres are reflecting on this situation.
