Viventi, al 60° anno di Professione Saveriana (03-10-1963), siamo sette: Germano Antonio, Sanfelice Carmelo, Ghiotto Bruno, Tognali Mario, Benedetti Silvano, Sommacal Raimondo e Mauro Umberto. Eravamo 49: 18 da Nizza Monferrato e 31 da S. Pietro in Vincoli. Un dato impressionante: nel corso degli anni, dei 18 di Nizza, 9 sono usciti dalla Congregazione (50%) e dei 31 di S. Pietro 23 (74%). Questi dati mostrano quanto abbia influito sulla nostra Famiglia Missionaria la crisi degli anni ‘60, che poi è andata acutizzandosi fino ad oggi. Evidentemente però ciò non esclude altri fattori; ad esempio, in quei tempi si curava quasi unicamente la pietà come unione con Dio in dimensione verticale. In verità, la vera vita Cristiana e quindi la vera Missione provengono da Gesù Cristo, vita donata al Padre e all'umanità, per la salvezza di tutti. Penso che molti di noi abbiano vissuto, nel silenzio, la gioia della Missione, proprio quando hanno condiviso le condizioni della gente, lottando con loro e per loro, con mezzi umani e soprannaturali, offrendo loro la Luce della Croce-Resurrezione. Senza l'unità tra le due dimensioni può portare qualcuno a darsi totalmente al sociale, dimenticando i tempi dello Spirito. (Carmelo Sanfelice sx, 60° di Professione Religiosa e Missionaria, 03 ottobre 2023, Bukavu - Congo)

60 years after the Xaverian Profession of vows (October 3^rd, 1963), just seven of us remain: Germano Antonio, Sanfelice Carmelo, Ghiotto Bruno, Tognali Mario, Benedetti Silvano, Sommacal Raimondo and Mauro Umberto. We were 49: 18 came from Nizza Monferrato, among whom 9 would later leave the Congregation (50%); as for the 31 that came from San Pietro in Vincoli, 23 would leave (74%). These data demonstrate the extent to which the crisis of the 1960s affected our Missionary Family – a crisis which then became more acute and continued till today. Obviously, other factors cannot be excluded; for instance, in those times spiritual life was cultivated almost only in terms of union with God, that is, solely in its vertical dimension. In reality, true Christian life and, therefore, true Mission, comes from Jesus Christ who gave his life to the Father and to humanity for the salvation of all. I guess many of us lived silently the joy of mission the very moment when we shared the living conditions of the people, by struggling with them and for them, with human and supernatural means, offering them the light of the Cross-Resurrection. Lack of unity between these two dimensions may lead one to commit himself totally to social issues while neglecting the time of the Spirit.
