Anche quest’anno ho avuto la possibilità, e la gioia, di partecipare al primo dei due raduni annuali del gruppo di ex apostolini della Sardegna. Da quando ho conosciuto questo gruppo qualche anno fa, rimango sempre piacevolmente stupito dello spirito che lo anima. Vedere uomini ormai adulti che si incontrano con grande entusiasmo con vecchi compagni dei tempi dell’adolescenza, fa bene al cuore. Ma soprattutto fa bene vedere come lo “spirito Saveriano” sia rimasto intatto dopo tanti anni. Ogni volta non mancano di affermarlo: hanno ricevuto una formazione che li ha accompagnati sempre negli anni successivi quando hanno lasciato l’Istituto, ciascuno per la sua strada. È quello che si è ripetuto anche nello scorso mese di aprile nell’incontro che si è tenuto a Baratili San Pietro, paese della vernaccia, il famoso vino dell’oristanese, il cui sindaco è uno degli ex. Celebrare con loro è veramente celebrare lo spirito di famiglia che perdura nel tempo nonostante la dispersione. E ora anche una nuova proposta: costituire una associazione odv (organizzazione del volontariato, ndr) per creare ponti con il mondo Saveriano e partecipare più attivamente alla vita della missione dei Saveriani. Prossimo incontro ad agosto, a Sanluri (50 km da Cagliari, Sardegna), paese del “Civraxu”, il tipico pane di grano duro a crosta dorata e mollica soffice. Once again this year, I had the opportunity – and the pleasure – to attend the first of the two annual meetings of the group of former Sardinian Apostolini [lit. “little apostles”, i.e., Xaverian minor seminarians – tr.]. Ever since I met this group a few years ago, I’ve always been pleasantly surprised by the spirit that drives it. It’s touching to see grown men reuniting with their old friends from their teenage years with such enthusiasm. But above all, it’s good to see how the “Xaverian spirit” has remained intact after so many years. They never fail to point out that the education they received has stayed with them ever since they left the Institute, when each went their separate ways. The same thing happened last April during the meeting held in Baratili San Pietro, the home of Vernaccia – the famous wine from the Oristano area –, whose town mayor is one of our former seminarians. Celebrating with them is truly a celebration of the family spirit that endures over time, despite the distance between us. And now there is also a new proposal: to establish a volunteer organization to build new contacts with the Xaverian community and participate more actively in the life of the Xaverian mission. The next meeting will be held in August in Sanluri (50 km from Cagliari, in Sardinia), the home of “Civraxu,” the traditional durum wheat bread with a golden crust and soft crumb. This time, the meeting will be organized by Roberto Arba, one of the group’s most enthusiastic members. (Tonino Melis s.x.)
