Presso la Certosa di Pesio si è svolta, dopo gli Esercizi Spirituali, la sessione di Formazione Permanente organizzata dagli Istituti Missionari, maschili e femminili, di fondazione italiana. La formazione riguardava il rapporto esistente tra economia e carisma all’interno di un Istituto missionario, e pertanto della sua sostenibilità. La formazione è stata guidata dal professor Luigino Bruni e dalla professoressa Maria Grazia Ardissone, entrambi economisti.

Le diverse problematiche di natura economica in una comunità sono la spia d’allarme di qualcos’altro che sta accadendo. Si è fatto riferimento al carisma di una congregazione chiedendosi se il dono carismatico risponde o meno alla seguente domanda: come annunciamo Dio oggi con il nostro carisma? Ci è sembrato molto interessante mettere in rapporto le diverse forme di crisi carismatiche che le congregazioni stanno vivendo e la dimensione economica.

Gli incontri di formazione hanno trattato anche temi molto concreti della gestione economica, descritta come una barca in mare da dirigere (dal latino gestus = “condurre qualcosa”). La sostenibilità dell’ “opera” o carisma dipende dal nostro modo di “gestire” le cose in modo efficiente ed efficace.

La sostenibilità di un’ “opera” o di un carisma, infatti, dipende anche da come si riesce ad accompagnare le persone che formano una famiglia religiosa e missionaria. È importante, quindi, saper individuare delle persone capaci di incoraggiare e trascinare in modo costruttivo e positivo gli altri membri, quelli cioè che lavorano per il bene dell’ “opera” senza secondi fini. Allo stesso tempo è necessario guardarsi da quelli che si servono dell’ “opera” per i propri interessi. Alla fine, i partecipanti hanno avuto la possibilità anche di un confronto diretto tra i membri dei vari Istituti. (Luigi Pinna sx)

After a course of Spiritual Exercises, an On-going Formation session organized by the Missionary Institutes (both male and female) founded in Italy, was held at the Chartreuse of Pesio, Cuneo, Italy. The programme was about the relationship between economy and charism within a missionary institute and, therefore, its sustainability. The formation was led by two economists: Prof. Luigino Bruni and Prof. Maria Grazia Ardissone.

In a community, various problems of economic nature are “warning lights” pointing at something else that is happening. With reference to a congregation’s charism, the issue to be discussed is whether the charismatic gift is answering to the following question: How are we proclaiming God through our charism today? We found it interesting to make a connection between the different types of charismatic crises that congregations are facing and the economic dimension.

These meetings of on-going formation also touched upon very concrete matters about economic management (gestione), which has been described as a boat at sea that has to be steered (gestione comes from the Latin gestus which means “lead something”). The sustainability of the project (opera) or charism depends on our efficient and effective way to “manage” things.

Truly, the sustainability of a project (opera) or charism depends also on the ability to accompany the people who form a religious and missionary family. Therefore, the selection of persons capable of encouraging and engaging other members in a constructive and positive manner is crucial; we are talking of people who work for the good of the “project” and are without ulterior motives. At the same time, it is necessary to beware of those who use the project for their own interests.
