Il 18 marzo 2021 è stato un giorno indimenticabile per la nostra comunità di Filosofia, grazie a Frate Angelus Maria Francisco - eremita pellegrino della nostra diocesi di Cubao - che ha rinnovato i voti nella nostra cappella della comunità. Mons. Honesto Ongtioco, vescovo di Cubao, ha presieduto l'Eucaristia e ha ricevuto i suoi voti. È la seconda volta che la comunità accoglie il suo vescovo Honesto, ma è la prima volta a celebrare l’Eucaristia nella cappella della comunità. La comunità di Filosofia è stata felice di essere testimone del modo in cui un eremita rinnova le sue promesse davanti al suo Ordinario. Nella sua omelia, monsignor Honesto, ispirato dalla figura di san Giuseppe, ha sottolineato tre elementi: la preghiera, la pazienza e la perseveranza. Una parte toccante nel rito del rinnovo dei voti è stata quando il Vescovo ha chiesto all'eremita quale corona preferisse: la corona del potere o la corona di Gesù. L'eremita risponde affermando di scegliere la corona del Cristo crocifisso. In quel momento il vescovo lo incorona. L'eremita porta la corona di spine durante tutta la celebrazione. Alla celebrazione hanno partecipato vari amici: 2 sacerdoti OFM, 2 sacerdoti diocesani, 4 Saveriani, suore e fratelli religiosi e alcuni parrocchiani. Abbiamo concluso la celebrazione con un semplice salo-salo (in Tagalog significa celebrazione), rispettando rigorosamente il distanziamento sociale perché i casi COVID qui a Quezon City sono alti.

Di tanto in tanto il Frate Angelus rinnova i voti davanti al suo superiore che è il vescovo di Cubao. Ha scelto il nostro seminario come luogo del suo rinnovamento perché lo stiamo accompagnando nella direzione spirituale. È un eremita pellegrino perché il suo eremo non è il bosco, ma la frenetica città di Metro Manila, che è la città di Quezon. (Patrick Santiañez Salazar sx)

March 18, 2021 was a memorable day for our Philosophy community because of Bro. Angelus Maria Francisco, a pilgrim hermit of the Diocese of Cubao who made his renovation of vows in our community chapel. Bishop Honesto Ongtioco, the Bishop of our diocese of Cubao, presided over the Eucharist and received his vows. The Philosophy community welcomed for the second time around His Excellency Bishop Honesto but it is his first time to celebrate Mass in our community Chapel. The Philosophy community was happy to witness how a hermit renovates his promises in front of his Ordinary. In his homily, Bishop Honesto, inspired by the solemnity of St. Joseph, shared three elements: prayer, patience, and perseverance. One touching part in his renovation of vows when the Bishop asked the hermit which crown he would prefer: the crown of power or the crown of Jesus. The hermit chose the crown of the crucified Christ. And the Bishop crowned him. The hermit had the crown of thorns during the whole celebration. In the celebration participated two OFM fathers; two diocesan fathers, 4 Xaverian priests, religious sisters and brothers, and some parishioners. We ended the celebration with a simple salo-salo (celebration), and we practiced the social distancing because COVID cases here in Quezon City are high.

From time-to-time Bro. Angelus renovates his vows in front of his superior, his ordinary that is the Bishop of Cubao. He has chosen the Xaverian house to be the place of his renovation because we are accompanying him in the Spiritual Direction. He is a pilgrim hermit because his hermitage is not in the bush but in the busy city of Metro Manila, which is Quezon city. (Patrick Santiañez Salazar sx)
