“Vorrei essere un p. Albert Joubert qui nelle Filippine”. È questa la commovente dichiarazione di p. Reynaldo Reyes, sacerdote diocesano della diocesi di Pasig, Filippine. Come p. Albert Joubert - uno dei quattro martiri di Baraka e Fizi - p. Rey è stato ordinato sacerdote il 31 marzo 2007 e fin da bambino sognava di diventare un sacerdote missionario, ma col tempo ha capito che lo stile di vita diocesano era più adatto a lui.

Grazie all’ Internet, si è imbattuto nella notizia della beatificazione dei martiri Saveriani. Con grande stupore, scoprì che uno di loro, p. Albert Joubert, era anche lui un sacerdote diocesano. Gli si aprirono gli occhi sulla bella possibilità di collaborazione tra il clero diocesano e le congregazioni religiose per la maggior gloria di Dio.

Toccato e ispirato, p. Rey mi chiamò e iniziò a promuovere attivamente la devozione ai nostri martiri. Stampò immaginette, opuscoli, stendardi e ritratti dei martiri. La sua parrocchia, una delle chiese giubilari della diocesi di Pasig, ora distribuisce questi opuscoli ai pellegrini. Ogni quinta domenica del mese, p. Rey invita anche i suoi parrocchiani a fare una donazione per sostenere la nostra comunità di Filosofia... (Patrick Santiañez Salazar sx)

“I would like to be a Fr. Albert Joubert here in the Philippines.” This was the moving statement of Fr. Reynaldo Reyes, a diocesan priest from the Diocese of Pasig, in the Philippines. Like Fr. Albert Joubert—one of the four martyrs of Baraka and Fizi—Fr. Rey was ordained as a priest on March 31, 2007. From childhood, he had dreamed of becoming a missionary priest, but over time, he realized that the diocesan way of life was better suited for him.

Thanks to the internet, he came across the news of the beatification of the Xaverian martyrs. To his amazement, he discovered that among them, Fr. Albert Joubert, was also a diocesan priest. It opened his eyes to the beautiful possibility of collaboration between diocesan clergy and religious congregations for the greater glory of God.

Touched and inspired, Fr. Rey called me and began actively promoting devotion to our martyrs. He printed stampitas, brochures, standees, and pictures of the martyrs. His parish, one of the Jubilee Churches in the Diocese of Pasig, now distributes these brochures to pilgrims. Every fifth Sunday of the month, Fr.
