I confratelli del IV piano della Casa Madre ci siamo uniti - venerdì 14 ottobre 2022 - a tutta la famiglia saveriana, sparsa nel mondo, per ricordare i nostri confratelli martiri saveriani. Li abbiamo celebrati e pregati; li abbiamo ascoltati. Abbiamo sentito questa celebrazione come un dovere di riconoscenza e gratitudine verso chi, nella nostra famiglia missionaria, ha saputo dare alla missione e alla fede tutta la sua vita, fino al sacrificio finale della propria vita.
Giovedì 13 ottobre 2022, durante l’Adorazione abbiamo ricordato i martiri della Repubblica Democratica del Congo e del Burundi : i pp. Luigi Carrara e Giovanni Didonè con il Fr. Vittorio Faccin e l’Abbé Joubert uccisi a Baraka (RDC) il 26 novembre 1964; i pp. Ottorino Maule e Marchiol Aldo e la laica Katina Gubert uccisi a Buyengero in Burundi il 30 ottobre 1995, ed infine le tre sorelle Saveriane uccise a Kamenge nella periferia del Burundi.
Nella celebrazione Eucaristica, p. Virginio Simoncelli, ricordando il sacrificio di sangue di questi nostri fratelli e sorelle, ha invitato i confratelli presenti a pronunciare ad alta voce i nomi dei confratelli e consorelle delle varie missioni dove abbiamo lavorato e servito. È stato un momento molto commovente e pieno di gratitudine. (i confratelli del IV piano)
On Friday, October 2022, the confreres of the Fourth Floor of the Mother House joined the Xaverian family spread around the world in the remembrance of our confreres, the Xaverian martyrs. We celebrated their memory, prayed to them, and listened to them. For us, this celebration was intended as necessary recognition and gratitude towards those who, in our missionary family, were able to offer their entire life for the mission and the faith, up to the final sacrifice of their own lives.
On Thursday, October 13th, 2022, during Holy Hour we remembered the martyrs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi: Fr. Luigi Carrara, Fr. Giovanni Didonè, Br. Vittorio Faccin and Abbé Joubert, who were murdered in Baraka (DRC) on November 26th, 1964; Fr. Ottorino Maule and Fr. Aldo Marchiol and the lay missionary Katina Gubert who were slain in Buyengero, Burundi, on October 30th, 1995; and, finally, the three Xaverian missionary sisters who were assassinated in the periphery of Kamenge, Burundi.
During the Eucharistic celebration, while remembering the sacrifice of these brothers and sisters of ours, Fr. Virginio Simoncelli invited the confreres then present to call out the names of confreres and sisters in the various missions where we worked and served.
