Giulio De Rita ha curato per il Censis (Centro Studi Investimenti Sociali) una ricerca sullo stato della Chiesa Italiana. In un colloquio con L’Osservatore Romano, l’esperto ha mostrato una fotografia della Chiesa italiana a partire della ricerca svolta.

“…i cambiamenti antropologico-culturali sono rapidissimi. Mentre è lenta la capacità di reazione al trend. Invertire l’orientamento da una chiesa dei numeri ad una chiesa che si fa sale della terra, una chiesa che va alla ricerca di quel 40% che si dice cattolico ma non viene — e non verrà — in chiesa, richiede un modo di pensare ed agire completamente nuovo. Ma i nostri preti non sono preparati a questo, non sono stati formati a questo. Fanno un gran lavoro dentro le chiese. Ma il futuro oggi si gioca fuori delle chiese. È l’ospedale da campo che chiede Papa Francesco…”
On behalf of CENSIS (Centro Studi Investimenti Sociali), Giulio De Rita conducted a survey on the situation of the Italian Church. During an interview with Osservatore Romano, this expert presented a general picture of the Italian Church as derived from the results of the survey.
From the interview:
“… very fast anthropological and cultural changes are taking place, whereas the reaction to this trend is slow. In order to reverse the direction and move from a Church of numbers to a Church that becomes salt of the earth and reaches out to that 40% [of Italians] that declares to be Catholic but does not go – nor is going to go – to church, a completely new mind set and course of action are necessary. However, our priests are not ready, they were not trained for it. They carry out a great job inside our churches, but today it is outside the churches that our future is at stake. This is what Pope Francis means when he talks about the field hospital.”
