L'anno pastorale 2024-2025 dell'arcidiocesi di Lubumbashi è stato incentrato sulla figura del beato Albert Joubert, "obbediente e fedele alla Chiesa, umile e disponibile". Fra le diverse attività organizzate per la venerazione di p. Joubert e dei suoi compagni martiri, quella di domenica 22 giugno 2025 è stata molto seguita sia in loco che a distanza.

Mgr Fulgence Muteba, arcivescovo metropolitano di Lubumbashi e presidente della conferenza episcopale nazionale (CENCO) ha presieduto la messa di consacrazione della parrocchia "Beato Albert Joubert" nel quartiere di Kasangiri, alla periferia di Lubumbashi.

Da anni, la comunità cristiana si incontrava nella cappella beato Isidore Bakandja nel cui terreno è iniziato nel 2021 il cantiere di costruzione della  chiesa, contenente al suo interno circa 500 persone e all'esterno più di 600 persone. Il costo totale è stato di 114.000$ provenienti dalle offerte dei parrocchiani. 

La celebrazione si è svolta secondo il rito della dedicazione della Chiesa e dell'altare, con lettura dei decreti di erezione, dedicazione della parrocchia e di nomina del parroco. La postulazione ha offerto le reliquie dei beati Albert Joubert e compagni martiri, poste nell'altare.

Notevole la partecipazione di una decina di sacerdoti del decanato "Ceinture verte", di cui fa parte la nuova parrocchia, e di circa 1.200 fedeli. Erano presenti circa 60 discendenti della famiglia del capitano Joubert, padre del beato Albert Joubert: hanno offerto i fondi per la costruzione della grotta mariana esterna alla chiesa.

Dopo la beatificazione dei 4 martiri di Uvira, avvenuta il 18 agosto 2024, questa è la prima parrocchia che è stata a loro dedicata. (Faustino Turco sx) 

The 2024–2025 pastoral year of the Archdiocese of Lubumbashi has been centered on the figure of Blessed Albert Joubert, “obedient and faithful to the Church, humble and available.” Among the various activities organized to honor Fr. Albert Joubert and his fellow martyrs, the one held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, drew significant participation locally and from afar.

Mgr. Fulgence Muteba, Metropolitan Archbishop of Lubumbashi and President of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO), presided over the Mass of Dedication of the Parish of “Blessed Albert Joubert,” in the Kasangiri neighbourhood on the outskirts of Lubumbashi.

For years, the Christian community had been gathering in the Blessed Isidore Bakandja Chapel, on whose land construction of the church began in 2021. The church building can accommodate approximately 500 people inside and over 600 outside. The total cost of the construction—$114,000—was entirely funded by donations from parishioners.

The celebration followed the Rite of Dedication of a Church and Altar, which included reading the decrees of canonical erection, parish dedication, and appointment of parish priest. The postulation presented the relics of Blessed Albert Joubert and his companions martyrs, placed in the altar.

The celebration saw a considerable participation of about ten priests from the “Ceinture Verte” deanery, to which the new parish belongs, and approximately 1,200 faithful. Present at the event were around 60 descendants of the family of Captain Joubert, father of Blessed Albert Joubert. They offered the funds for the construction of the outdoor Marian grotto.

Following the beatification of the four martyrs of Uvira, on August 18, 2024, this is the first parish dedicated to them. (Faustino Turco s.x)
