Celebriamo il Natale nel contesto delle guerre in Ucraina e nella R.D. Congo, dove parti di territorio sono sotto l’occupazione dei ribelli e di forze straniere, un conflitto che ha provocato morti e un gran numero di famiglie profughe innocenti. In simili circostanze, la nascita del bambino Gesù (che significa “Dio salva”) viene a ricordarci che Egli, l’Emmanuele, non resta indifferente alle sofferenze della nostra umanità. Lui è sempre con noi e desidera che tutti, uomini e donne, formino una famiglia con Lui.

Questo è il desiderio di Dio anche per noi, pre-novizi (28) e novizi (8), e per i nostri formatori, che da Lui siamo stati portati a vivere insieme in una famiglia. Siamo a Kilomoni, con la diversità delle nostre origini (6 nazionalità) e dei livelli di formazione, nel mezzo del popolo congolese che ci ha accolti. In questo ambiente, il Natale è un’occasione favorevole per incontrare il Signore e permettergli di salvarci dal nostro egoismo. Possa l’Emmanuele nascere in noi ogni giorno ed aprirci ad accoglierlo attraverso l’amore fraterno e l’amore per la nostra vocazione saveriana.

We celebrate Christmas in a context of war in Ukraine and in the D.R. Congo where part of the territory is under rebel and foreign occupation with its share of deaths and massive displacement of innocent families. In such a context, the birth of the child Jesus (which means “God saves”) comes to remind us that He, the Emmanuel, does not remain unresponsive to the sufferings of our humanity. He is always with us and He desires that all men and women form a brotherly family with Him.

For us, Pre-novices (28) and Novices (8), as well as our formators, this desire of God to bring us together in a family, we live it here in Kilomoni in the diversity of our origins (6 nationalities) and different levels of formation, among the Congolese people who welcome us. In our situation, Christmas is the favorable occasion to meet the Lord and allow Him to save us from turning in on ourselves. May the Emmanuel be born in us every day and open us to welcome Him by giving us to fraternal love and to the love of our Xaverian Vocation.
