Preceduta da due serate di animazione e adorazione, nella parrocchia di S. Bernardo a Kinshasa, RDC, la beatificazione dei quattro martiri è stata una festa attesa e preparata. All’inizio della messa celebrata in perfetta concomitanza con la messa a Uvira, RDC, abbiamo intronizzato davanti all’altare, in piccole processioni, le foto dei quattro beati. Mentre un lettore leggeva qualche nota sulla vita del martire, un capo comunità portava la foto, accompagnato da un chierichetto con un cero, da un altro con una palma e da quattro danzerine. Il sacerdote concludeva sottolineando in che cosa il martire presentato ci è di esempio.
Il Vangelo parlava del pane della vita. L’omelia è stata centrata sul legame tra martirio ed eucaristia e, a partire dalle parole di Fr. Vittorio Faccin, è stato evidenziato che l’eucaristia non è un rito, ma l’offerta della vita.
Per continuare a sottolineare questo legame, alla fine della messa, le quattro foto sono state portate davanti al tabernacolo per rimanervi tutta la settimana.
Domenica prossima celebreremo la festa patronale di S. Bernardo e, come primo segno, è prevista la collocazione definitiva delle quattro foto sulle pareti della chiesa.
Nei giorni scorsi abbiamo cercato di far conoscere le figure dei quattro nuovi beati. Già alcuni mesi fa, di passaggio a Kinshasa, p. Faustino Turco aveva concesso un’intervista a Radio Maria. Avvicinandosi la festa, durante una settimana Radio Maria ha trasmesso l’Eucaristia mattutina dalla nostra parrocchia. I confratelli hanno animato alcune emissioni radiofoniche e televisive.
Senza spendere troppo abbiamo anche fatto stampare un po’ di poster e un volantino e venduto le stoffe e le magliette preparate a Bukavu, RDC.
Che i nuovi martiri ci aiutino, come scritto nel volantino, ad “amare fino a dare la vita”, come cantavamo una volta: “la palma gloriosa noi sospiriam”. (Rino Benzoni sx)

The Gospel spoke of the bread of life. The homily centered on the link between martyrdom and the Eucharist, starting from Br. Vittorio Faccin's words, it emphasized that the Eucharist is not a rite but the offering of one's life. To continue underlining this connection, at the end of Mass, the four photos were placed in front of the tabernacle to remain there all week.
Next Sunday, we will celebrate the St. Bernard parish feast day. As a sign, we will place the four photos, as a final placement, on the church's walls.
We have been trying to make the figures of the four new blessed better known. A few months ago, while passing through Kinshasa, Fr. Faustino Turco had already given an interview to Radio Maria. Then, as the feast approached, Radio Maria broadcasted the morning Eucharist from our parish for a week. In addition, the confreres animated some radio and TV broadcasts.
Without spending too much money, we also printed posters and flyers and sold the fabrics and T-shirts prepared in Bukavu, DRC.
May the new martyrs help us, as written in the flyer, to "love to the point of giving one's life," as we once sang, "we sigh for the glorious palm." (Rino Benzoni s.x.)
