I Missionari Saveriani - giunti in Marocco nel 2020 (ottobre e novembre) - lavorano nell'arcidiocesi di Tangeri, nel nord della nazione. Dal 24 maggio 2019 l'arcidiocesi era rimasta sede vacante, dopo la rinuncia per raggiunti limiti di età dell'arcivescovo Santiago Martínez Agrelo. Da allora, il Cardinale Cristóbal López Romero, Arcivescovo di Rabat, era anche Amministratore Apostolico di Tangeri.

Il 25 febbraio 2022, Fra Emilio Rocha Grande ofm è stato nominato Amministratore Apostolico della stessa arcidiocesi e il 7 febbraio 2023 la Santa Sede ha annunciato la buona notizia della nomina del vescovo Emilio ad arcivescovo di Tangeri. Al-Ḥamdu lillāh (Sia Lode a Dio).

La celebrazione dell’ ordinazione episcopale sarà sabato 25 marzo 2023, alle ore 17.00, nella cattedrale di Tangeri, in šāʾ Allāh (a Dio piacendo, se Dio vuole). L’Eucaristia sarà presieduta dal Card. Cristóbal López Romero - già amministratore - Presidente della Conferenza Episcopale della Regione Nordafricana (Marocco, Algeria, Libia e Tunisia).

È senz’altro una grande gioia per i cristiani che costituiscono questa arcidiocesi e che per 4 anni erano rimasti senza il loro vescovo celebrare insieme questa grazia.

Va ricordato qui che Tangeri è stata eretta ad arcidiocesi il 14 novembre 1956. Ci affidiamo alle vostre preghiere.

La terra marocchina in generale è favorevole al dialogo interreligioso e interculturale, e il sogno di San Guido Maria Conforti di "Fare del mondo un'unica famiglia" - il cui riferimento è l'Unico Dio - ha anche per queste terre un senso molto forte. (François Saleh Moll sx)

The Xaverian Missionaries arrived in Morocco in October and November 2020. They now work in the Archdiocese of Tangier, in the north of the nation. From May 24^th, 2019, this Archdiocese had become vacant, that is, since Archbishop Santiago Martínez Angrelo resigned for having reached retirement age. Thereupon, Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, Archbishop of Rabat, became also Apostolic Administrator of Tangier. On February 25^th, 2022, Br. Emilio Rocha Grande o.f.m. was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the archdiocese and on February 7^th, 2023, the Holy See announced the good news of his appointment as Archbishop of Tangier. Al-Ḥamdu lillāh  (Praise be to God).

The episcopal ordination will take place on Saturday, March 25^th, 2023, at 5:00 p.m., in the cathedral of Tangier, in šāʾ Allāh  (God willing). The Mass will be presided over by the former administrator, Card. Cristóbal López Romero, President of the Bishop Conference of the North African Region (Morocco, Algeria, Libya and Tunisia).

To celebrate together this grace is certainly reason for great joy among the Christians of this archdiocese; they had been without bishop for 4 years.

Here, it should be remembered that Tangier was erected as an archdiocese on November 14^th, 1956. We trust in your prayers.

The Moroccan land, by and large, favours interreligious and intercultural dialogue. St Guido Maria Conforti’s dream – the formation of a single … family embracing all humanity –, whose common point of reference is the Only God, has a very deep meaning also for these lands. (François Saleh Moll sx)
