MAROCCO: FESTA DI S. F. SAVERIO CON I “SUFI”

Celebrare S. Francesco Saverio con i fratelli e le sorelle Sufi è già una tradizione in Marocco. Nella celebrazione ci unisce il desiderio di “fare del mondo una famiglia”, diventando un “Ribat El Salam” (“Vincolo di Pace”, fondato in Algeria da Christian de Chergé e Mons. Claude Rault, e vissuto con la confraternita Sufi Alawiya). “Vincolo della Pace” è un gruppo di dialogo islamo-cristiano fondato nel 1979. Noi Saveriani camminiamo insieme alla “Tariqa Alawiya” (“tariqa” è una parola araba che indica la denominazione delle confraternite mistiche musulmane e significa “sentiero”, “via”, “regola”…). “Il silenzio ci consente di vivere nel presente qui e ora e ci permette di conoscere noi stessi e, chi conosce sé stesso, conosce Dio” ha espresso Asmae al termine della nostra preghiera. La nostra meditazione e preghiera silenziosa, basata su un versetto (“aya” in arabo) del Corano e un versetto del Vangelo, mira ad approfondire come nel disegno di Dio "l'altro", proveniente da est e da ovest, sia chiamato a vivere la gioia di Dio e a sedersi al suo tavolo. Quest'anno si sono unite a noi le Figlie della Carità di Ksar El Kebir e un amico cristiano di Ceuta. È seguito il pranzo consumato insieme. (Rolando Ruiz Durán sx)

MOROCCO: FEAST OF ST. FRANCIS XAVIER WITH THE “SUFIS”
Celebrating the feast of St Francis Xavier with Sufi brothers and sisters has already become a tradition in Morocco. We are united in this celebration by the desire to “make a single family embracing all humanity” through becoming a Ribat el Salam (“a bond of peace” – also name of a group founded in Algeria by Christian de Chergé and Msgr. Claude Rault, which includes the Sufi brotherhood Alawiya). Bond of Peace is a group of Islamic-Christian dialogue founded in 1979. As Xaverians, we are walking together with Tariqa Alawiya (tariqa is an Arabic term indicating the Muslim mystique brotherhoods and meaning “path”, “way”, “rule”…). “Silence allows us to live the present, here and now, and to know ourselves. He who knows himself knows God”, said Asmae at the end of our prayer. Our meditation and silent prayer based on a verse (aya in Arabic) of the Quran and a verse of the Gospel was meant to gain a deeper appreciation of how, in God’s plan, the “other”, who comes from either the East or the West, is called to live in God’s joy and to sit at God’s table. This year, the Daughters of Charity from Ksar el Kebir, as well as a Christian friend from Ceuta, joined us. The moment of prayer was followed by a common lunch. (Rolando Ruiz Durán s.x.)
