La riflessione sulla Giornata Mondiale di Preghiera per i Cattolici Cinesi (24 maggio) - istituita da Benedetto XVI nel 2007 - è suggerita quest’anno dal nostro confratello Simon sx. Questa giornata coincide con la memoria della Madonna di Sheshan – 佘山, l’immagine della Vergine più venerata nell’ Impero di Mezzo.

Simon sx è figlio spirituale della famiglia missionaria fondata dal primo vescovo saveriano: le Suore Giuseppine. Dopo l’anno di Postulato e Noviziato a Manila (PH), ha emesso la prima professione religiosa e missionaria il 16 maggio 2020 nella cappella della Teologia di Maligaya – Manila. Ora sta per concludere il primo anno di Teologia nella stessa comunità dove ha vissuto i primi due anni di formazione alla consacrazione missionaria.

Simon sx conclude la sua riflessione riferendosi alla sua patria con queste parole: “essa (la nazione, ndr) brama di ascoltare una parola di consolazione e ricevere un sostegno forte. Ogni 24 maggio, la festa della Madonna di Sheshan dona a questo “corpo” nuova speranza nel mezzo della battaglia perché esso viene ricondotto alla sua sorgente: la comunione con la Chiesa Universale”.

This year, the reflection on the World Day of Prayer for Chinese Catholics – established by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007 – is suggested by our confrere Simon, s.x. This day coincides with the memory of Our Lady of Sheshan, whose image is the most venerated picture of the Virgin Mary in the “Middle Kingdom”.

Simon s.x. is the spiritual son of the missionary family founded by the first Xaverian Bishop in China: The Sisters of St. Joseph. After the year of Postulancy and Novitiate in Manila (PH), he made his First Religious and Missionary Profession on May 16^th – 2020 in the chapel of the Theology House in Maligaya – Manila. Simon is about to conclude his first year of theological studies in the same Xaverian House where he has been for the first two years of his training and formation to mission.  

Referring to his motherland and the Church in his country, Simon s.x. concludes his reflection with these words: “Our nation yearns to listen to a word of consolation and receive strong support. Every May 24^th, the feast of our Lady of Sheshan gives to our Church (this “body” of Christ) new hope, even in the midst of great battles, because it is brought back to the real source of life: communion with the Universal Church.”
