È uscito Cahiers n. 16, 2021 del Centre d’Études Africaines, dal titolo “Évènement : Réception de la Lettre Testament de Saint Guido Maria Conforti ”. (“Evento: accoglienza della Lettera Testamento di San Guido Maria Conforti”.)

Vari confratelli vi partecipano nella riflessione: Faustin Turco sx, Gabriel Basuzwa sx, Louis Birabaluge sx, Pierre Emalieu sx, Gilbert Mbula sx, Aimé Mitengezo sx, Jean Dieudonne Ndaboroheye sx e Barthelemy Minani sx. Vi è il contributo anche di una coppia, membri del Laicato Saveriano del Congo (Bukavu) : Aimé Bisimwa e Laurentia Nakinja che riflettono sulla Lettera Testamento come un messaggio per persone sposate.

Nell’editoriale, p. Louis Birabaluge sx scrive: I contributi raccolti in questo numero sono abitati da una convinzione profondamente radicata nelle culture africane: "Solo chi si mostra fedele al testamento ricevuto può essere chiamato ‘erede’. Il suo compito è di perpetuare la tradizione familiare…” E più avanti aggiunge: “…La fedeltà richiede un continuo ricorso ai fondamenti dell'Istituto così come appaiono nel Vangelo, nella Lettera Testamento, nelle Costituzioni, nella Regola fondamentale, nei 125 anni di storia dei missionari saveriani e soprattutto nella storia dei santi missionari saveriani la cui testimonianza della vita missionaria resta un carisma vivente. Perché la loro vita è una spiegazione del carisma saveriano…”.

Issue n. 16 (2021) of Cashiers of the Centre d’Etudes Africains, entitled Evènement: Rèception de la Lettre Testament de Saint Guido Maria Conforti (Event acceptance of the Testament Letter of St. Guido Maria Conforti) has been published.

It contains reflections by various confreres: Faustin Turco s.x., Gabriel Basuzwa s.x., Louis Birabaluge s.x., Pierre Emalieu, s.x., Gilbert Mbula, s.x., Aimé Mitengezo, s.x., Jean Dieudonne Ndaboroheye, s.x., and Barthelemy Minani, s.x.  It includes also the contribution of a married couple, members of the Laicato Saveriano of Congo (Bukavu): Mr. Aimé Bisimwa and Mrs. Laurentia Nakinja. They reflect on the Testament Letter as a message for married people.               

In the editorial, Fr. Louis Birabaluge s.x. writes: “The contributions collected in this issue are enlivened by a conviction deeply rooted in African cultures. Only he/she who shows faithfulness to the will-testament received can be called ‘heir’.  His or her task is to perpetuate the family tradition.” Later he adds: “Fidelity requires constant reliance on the foundations of the Institute as they appear in the Gospels, in the Testament Letter, in the Constitutions, in the Fundamental Rule, in the 125-year-long history of the Xaverian Missionaries and, above all, in the history of the Xaverian Saints, whose witness of missionary life remains a living charism. Their lives are an explanation of the Xaverian Charism”.
