Giovedì 4 giugno 2026 il Gruppo Amici dei Missionari Saveriani (GAMS) ha festeggiato i 90 anni di vita nel Santuario San Guido Maria Conforti con la celebrazione eucaristia seguita da un rinfresco di condivisione. Alla celebrazione eucaristica delle 15.30 erano presenti il Vescovo di Parma, Enrico Solmi, il vescovo Saveriano Natale Paganelli, i confratelli concelebranti, insieme al GAMS e ai fedeli che frequentano il Santuario Conforti.

Il vescovo diocesano, Enrico Solmi, ha pregato il Signore perché “ci faccia inquieti nell’annunciare il Vangelo fino agli ultimi confini della terra”, mentre il vescovo Natale Paganelli ha ringraziato il GAMS per le risposte coraggiose che in tutti questi anni hanno saputo dare e condividere.

Anche il nostro confratello p. Franco Lizzit,  ormai prossimo a celebrare i suoi 75 anni di Professione religiosa e missionaria, ha voluto dare la sua testimonianza in forma di invocazione: “Signore ti ringraziamo per averci chiamato tutti al tuo servizio per l’annuncio del Regno. Ti ringraziamo per il dono della Salvezza che hai operato in noi con il tuo sacrificio d’amore sulla croce.”

La presidente del GAMS, Signora Paola Curti ha così espresso la sua preghiera: “È una grande gioia per me e per tutto il GAMS vedere tanti amici che ci vogliono bene, tanti volti pieni di futuro, tanti volti mai dimenticati. La missione fa bene. L’amore fa molto bene. L’elenco sarebbe lungo e magari incompleto quindi per non dimenticare nessuno dei presenti diciamo a tutti il nostro GRAZIE. Nell’annuario diocesano il GAMS  compare tra le Aggregazioni di Apostolato dei Laici e il nostro Atto Costitutivo alla voce “Scopo dell’Associazione” recita “aiuto spirituale e materiale”:  è riduttivo perché in noi vive lo spirito di San Guido Maria Conforti che è vita buona e dà frutti incalcolabili. Prova ne è che le nostre gite affidate a lui sono sempre state piene di sole e di frutti. In questi anni abbiamo salutato e accolto tanti studenti, padri e fratelli. Abbiamo gioito per i loro traguardi. Abbiamo sofferto con loro per i momenti difficili, nelle malattie, negli abbandoni. Sempre fidandoci! Abbiamo ascoltato la loro vita, abbiamo scoperto mondi a noi sconosciuti. Abbiamo condiviso pranzi e cene, festeggiato anniversari e compleanni, pregato, pianto e camminato con loro. Nonostante gli anni non abbiamo ancora intenzione di ‘buttare la spugna’. Mettiamo il nostro futuro nelle mani di Dio e di San Guido. Grazie a tutti”. (Gabriele Guarnieri sx)

Thursday, June 4^th, 2026, the Gruppo Amici dei Missionari Saveriani (GAMS, Group Friends of the Xaverian Missionaries) marked its 90-year anniversary with a Eucharistic celebration in St Guido Maria Conforti Shrine followed by a reception. The 3:30 p.m. Eucharistic celebration was attended by the Bishop of Parma Msgr. Enrico Solmi, the Xaverian Bishop Msgr. Natale Paganelli, confreres who concelebrated, members of GAMS and those faithful who frequently attend the Conforti Shrine.

Msgr. Enrico Solmi prayed the Lord, asking Him “to keep us restless in proclaiming the Gospel to the ends of the earth”, while Bishop Natale Paganelli thanked GAMS for the courage they have shown in giving and sharing over the years.

Similarly, our confrere, Fr. Franco Lizzit, who is about to celebrate 75 years of religious and missionary life, has chosen to share his testimony in the form of a prayer: “Thank you Lord for calling us all to serve you in the proclamation of your Reign. We thank you for the gift of Salvation that you worked in us with your sacrifice of love on the cross.”

For her part, the president of GAMS, Mrs Paola Curti, said: “It is a great joy for me and for the entire GAMS to see so many friends who care about us, so many faces full of hope, and so many faces we will never forget. Missionary work does us good. Love truly does us good. The list of the people to thank would be long and perhaps incomplete, so, to be sure we don’t forget anyone, we say THANK YOU to everyone. In the diocesan directory, GAMS is listed among the Associations of Lay Apostolate and our Foundation Act, under the item ‘Purpose of the Association’ reads “spiritual and material aid”; this is a simplification, because the spirit of Saint Guido Maria Conforti lives within us – a spirit that embodies a good life and bears immeasurable fruit. Proof of this is the fact that whenever we have made a trip and entrusted it to him, it has been a trip full of sun and fruitful. Over the years, we have seen off and welcomed many students, fathers, and brothers. We have rejoiced in their achievements. We have shared their pain during difficult times, through illness and abandonment. We have always trusted each other! We listened to their stories and discovered worlds unknown to us. We shared lunches and dinners, celebrated anniversaries and birthdays, prayed, cried, and walked alongside them. Despite our age, we have no intention of ‘throwing in the towel.’ We place our future in the hands of God and St. Guido. Thank you all.”  (Gabriele Guarnieri s.x.)
