Papa Francesco parlando ai giovani riuniti a Lisbona ha sottolineato l’importanza della fretta, “la fretta buona, sana, di Maria che con urgenza e premura va incontro a chi ha bisogno e se ne prende cura”, al punto da proporre un nuovo “titolo” per Maria: “Nostra Signora che ha fretta”. È l’amore che chiede questa fretta, “affrettiamoci ad amare”.  Maria dunque icona della Chiesa, Maria madre che ha fretta, “apressada”, a sottolinearne l’ansia premurosa e icona di una Chiesa senza porte.

Talking to the youths gathered in Lisbon, Pope Francis highlighted the importance of haste, “Mary’s haste is good and healthy; she rushes towards those who are in need and takes care of them with eagerness”. Thus, the Pope even suggested a new “title” for Mary: “Our Lady in a hurry.” Love requires such hurry, “let us hasten to love.” Hence, the title of Mary as icon of the Church, Mary as mother in a hurry – apressada – to emphasise her eagerness and her being an icon of a Church without gates.
