Guardando al cammino vissuto nella comunità di Salerno, il primo sentimento è la gratitudine al Signore per avermi chiamato ad essere suo discepolo nella Chiesa e nella famiglia Saveriana. Il servizio e l’impegno tra i giovani e sul territorio di Salerno per me non è semplicemente per compiere delle attività. É una chiamata ad incarnare lo spirito del nostro Fondatore: guardare l’umanità con gli occhi del Crocifisso per scoprirlo nel bisogno di speranza, di fraternità e di essere una sola famiglia in Cristo nella vita dei giovani. 

L’animazione missionaria vocazionale e l’accompagnamento spirituale costituiscono un solo impegno che mi fa amare ancora di più la vocazione Saveriana. Un impegno ed un servizio che mi mettono sempre in una condizione di essere  “in uscita”: nelle parrocchie, nelle scuole, coi poveri, con i laici, per testimoniare la verità e la bellezza del Vangelo. La disposizione di ascolto delle persone richiede rispetto sacro, pazienza. Sì, una pazienza profonda.  A loro fianco, per accogliere e scoprire insieme il disegno di Dio nella loro vita. Vedere i giovani aprirsi agli orizzonti ad gentes e desiderare offrire la propria vita per gli altri, è la gioia più grande.

Tutto questo mi conferma che il carisma di Conforti non ha frontiere. Porto nel cuore la fraternità vissuta con i confratelli, la generosità dei laici e la certezza che anche attraverso i nostri poveri passi, il Signore continua a fare del mondo una sola famiglia in Cristo. (Valerius Jan Nahak sx)

Looking back on my journey in the Xaverian community of Salerno, my first feeling is gratitude to the Lord for calling me to be his disciple in the Church and in the Xaverian family. For me, service and commitment among young people and in the Salerno territory, are not simply about carrying out some activities. They are a call to embody the spirit of our Founder: to look at humanity through the eyes of the Crucified Lord, to discover in young people’s lives their need for hope, for fraternity, and to be one family in Christ. 

Vocational missionary animation and spiritual accompaniment constitute a single commitment that makes me love the Xaverian vocation even more. A commitment and a service that always place me in a position of being “going forth”: in parishes, in schools, with the poor and the laity, to bear witness to the truth and beauty of the Gospel. The interior disposition to listen to people requires sacred respect and patience. Yes, a profound patience.  By their side, to welcome them and discover together God’s plan for their lives. Seeing young people open themselves to horizons “ad gentes” and desire to offer their lives for others is the greatest joy.

All of this confirms to me that Conforti’s charism knows no boundaries. I carry in my heart the spirit of fraternity I experienced with my confreres in the community, the collaboration and generosity of the laity, and the certainty that even through our poor efforts, the Lord continues to make the world one family in Christ.
