Verso la mezzanotte del 18 marzo 2020, è morto a Parma, in Casa Madre, Fr. Gino Masseroni. Il confratello aveva 90 anni, essendo nato a Cremona il 22.11.1929.
Dopo aver frequentato un Istituto Tecnico ed aver lavorato in fabbrica, nell’aprile del 1949 il giovane Gino entra nella casa saveriana di Cremona per passare, dopo qualche mese di probandato, a S. Pietro in Vincoli per l’anno di noviziato. Dopo la Prima Professione religiosa-missionaria (avvenuta il 18.10.1950), fr. Gino viene destinato a Parma - Casa Madre, dove lavora come tipografo (1950-1956).
Nel 1956 fr. Gino viene destinato al Brasile Sud. Dopo un anno trascorso a São Paolo-Vila Mariana per lo studio della lingua (1956-1957), gli viene chiesto di rimanere nella stessa comunità come incaricato dell’azienda di articoli religiosi (1957-1958). In seguito viene destinato a Jaguapitá, dove lavora, prima, come addetto alla casa nella parrocchia di S. José (1958-1959) e poi come prefetto nel Seminario saveriano (1959-1967).
Alla fine del 1967 fr. Gino viene richiamato in Italia e destinato alla casa di Piacenza come animatore vocazionale per i fratelli (1968-1974). Poi, gli viene chiesto di andare ad Ancona, nella casa di Posatora, per servire nella formazione dei fratelli (1974-1978). Nel 1978 la casa di Ancona viene destinata ad essere sede del Noviziato, ma fr. Gino rimane nella nuova “struttura” esercitando vari ruoli: aiuto economo (1978-1980), animatore interno (1978-1990), sostituto rettore (1985-1995), vice maestro dei novizi (1990-1995).
Nell’ agosto del 1995 fr. Gino viene inviato a Macomer dove svolge vari servizi: animatore missionario (1995-2012), economo della comunità (1995-2002; 2005-2006); aiuto economo (2004-2005; 2006-2015), incaricato Benefattori (2002-2004), sostituto rettore (2009-2010).
Nell’ottobre del 2015 fr. Gino viene destinato alla Casa Madre di Parma per cure. Qui, verso la mezzanotte del 18 marzo 2020, viene portato dagli Angeli al cospetto dell’Altissimo per contemplare il Suo volto e ricevere la ricompensa del servitore fedele.

BRO. LUIGI ISAIA MASSERONI
(1929 - 2020)
Bro. Luigi Isaia Masseroni died in Parma on March 18th, 2020, around midnight. Bro. Luigi Isaia Masseroni, commonly known as Gino, was born in the city of Cremona on November 22nd, 1929, and was now 90 years old.
First, he frequented a Technical Institute and worked in a factory of the area. In the year 1949, Gino entered the Xaverian Minor Seminary of Cremona. Few months later, he entered the Xaverian Novitiate House of St. Pietro in Vincoli, Ravenna, for his year of Novitiate. Gino celebrated his First Religious Missionary Profession on October 18th, 1950, and was then assigned to the Mother House of Parma to work in the area of Printing and Publications (1950-1956).
In the year 1956, Brother Gino Masseroni was assigned to work in the Southern part of Brazil. After one year spent for the study of the Brazilian Language in the Xaverian House of Sao Paolo-Vila Mariana, Bro. Gino was asked to remain in that Xaverian Community leading the newborn little industry of religious articles (1957-1958). Subsequently, Bro. Gino Masseroni was assigned to Jaguapità, first, as responsible for the parish House of S. José (1958-1959), then, as ‘Student Prefect’ of the local Xaverian Seminary (1959-1967).
At the end of the year 1967, Bro. Gino was recalled to Italy and asked to work in our Xaverian House of Piacenza as Director of Vocations for Brothers (1968-1974). Then Bro. Gino was asked to join the Xaverians of the House of Ancona (Posatora area) to assist in the formation of the Xaverian Brothers (1974-1978). In the year 1978, while the Xaverian House of Ancona was restructured and named Xaverian Novitiate House, Brother Gino remained and continued in his service and ministry in various roles: Assistant to the Treasurer (1978-1980), Formator within the Community (1978-1980), Substitute Rector (1985-1995), Vice Master of Novices (1990-1995).
On August 1995, Bro. Gino was sent to Macomer, where, again, he offered various services and ministered in many ways: Mission Educator (1995-2012), Community Treasurer (1995-2002, 2005-2006), Assistant Treasurer (2004-2005; 2006-2015), Responsible for Friends and Benefactors (2002-2004), Substitute Rector (2009-2010).
In the month of October 2015, Bro, Gino was assigned to the Mother House of Parma for assistance in his health needs. Here, close to midnight of March 2020, Bro. Gino Masseroni was brought by the Holy Angels to the presence of the Almighty God to contemplate His loving countenance and receive the reward of the loving faithful servant.
