1943 - 2024
Lunedì 08 aprile 2024, alle ore 18.45 è deceduto in Casa Madre, Parma – Italia, il nostro confratello p. Renato Trevisan. Aveva 80 anni compiuti, essendo nato il 4 dicembre 1943 a Caldogno, provincia di Vicenza, Italia.
Dopo le scuole elementari, p. Renato entra nella Casa Saveriana di Vicenza per le scuole Medie Inferiori (1954-1958): “Il desiderio di farmi missionario mi è stato istillato sia dalla mamma dei padri Tarcisio e Massimiliano Nardello sia da p. Massimiliano stesso, amico di famiglia e vicino di casa”.
Continua gli studi delle scuole Medie Superiori a Zelarino-Mestre (1958-1961). Dopo il Noviziato a San Pietro in Vincoli, emette la prima professione religiosa e missionaria il 3 ottobre 1962 a Parma. Dal 1962 al 1963 è a Desio e poi a Tavernerio (1963 -1965) per gli studi liceali. Dal 1965 al 1966 è a Parma per la Propedeutica. Realizza l’anno di Prefettato a Guernica, Spagna (1966-1967).
Dal 1967 al 1970 è a Parma per lo studio della Teologia. Qui emette la Professione Perpetua (12.09.1968) e riceve l’ordinazione presbiterale (27.09.1970). Subito dopo l’ordinazione viene inviato alla casa Apostolica di Brescia dove lavora come formatore e vicerettore, dal 1971 al 1978.
Nel 1978 viene destinato al Brasile Nord. Dopo l’anno di lingua a Belém (1979), lavora a S. Felix do Xingu, parrocchia São Felix, come viceparroco, nel settore della Pastorale Indigenista e coordinatore di equipe. Per un anno (1980) lavora anche ad Altamira – Bairro Brás. Dal 1981 al 1983 è parroco della parrocchia di São Felix, S. Felix do Xingu. Durante questo periodo frequenta anche vari corsi in Linguistica e Antropologia. Dopo un periodo di studio della lingua Kayapó, è a Kikretum, villaggio degli Indios Kayapó, fino al 1986.
Dal 1987 al 1990 è Consigliere Regionale della Circoscrizione del Brasile Nord. In quel periodo è anche coordinatore regionale CIMI e Pastorale Indigenista. Nel 1989 partecipa al XII Capitolo Generale.
Dal 1990 al 1993 è vice superiore regionale della Circoscrizione del Brasile Nord. Durante questo periodo frequenta corsi di missiologia a São Paulo, Brasile. Dal 1992 al 1993 è ad Altamira come coordinatore della Pastorale Indigenista. Dal 1993 al 1995 è Superiore Regionale della Circoscrizione del Brasile Nord e nel 1995 partecipa al XIII Capitolo Generale dove viene eletto Consigliere Generale con il compito di “Prefetto delle Persone” e Procuratore Generale. Durante il suo servizio nella Direzione Generale compie molte visite ai confratelli (Brasile Nord, Italia, Filippine, Giappone, Brasile Sud, Spagna, Camerun-Ciad, U.S.A., Cina, Mozambico, Regno Unito, Messico in occasione del XIV Capitolo Generale a Guadalajara-Messico).
Concluso il suo servizio a Roma, nel 2002 viene destinato nuovamente alla Circoscrizione del Brasile Nord, dove è parroco di Redençao, PA, fino al 2007.
Nel 2007 partecipa al XV Capitolo Generale.
Nel 2008 appartiene alla Circoscrizione dell’Italia dove svolge il servizio di vicerettore dello Studentato di Parma. Dal 2008 al 2017 viene nuovamente destinato alla Circoscrizione del Brasile Nord dove è impegnato nella Pastorale Indigenista a Redençao, PA, e parroco della parrocchia di Redençao, PA (2008-2015). Nel 2015 ritorna in Italia, Casa Madre, per ragioni di salute. Nel 2017 veniva definitivamente destinato alla Circoscrizione Italiana, nella Casa Madre, per cure.
Riposi in pace
“Come non fare affidamento alle parole dell’antifona d’ingresso della messa “del giorno di Pasqua”: “Sono risorto e sono sempre con te; tu hai posto su di me la tua mano, è stupenda per me la tua saggezza”.
Solo alla luce, al calore e alla certezza, nella fede, nella Rivelazione, ripeto le parole: “Hai messo più gioia nel mio cuore di quando abbondano vino e frumento. In pace mi corico e subito mi addormento: Tu solo, Signore, al sicuro mi fai riposare…” (Salmo 4, 8-9).

On Monday, April 8th, 2024, at 6:45 p.m., our 80-year-old confrere Fr. Renato Trevisan passed away at the Mother House in Parma, Italy. He was born on December 4th, 1943, in Caldogno, Vicenza Province, Italy.
After his elementary school graduation, young Renato entered the Xaverian House in Vicenza to attend middle school (1954-1958): “I was instilled the desire to become a missionary by the mother of Fr. Antenore Nardello and Fr. Massimiliano Nardello, and in particular by Fr. Massimiliano who was a family friend and our neighbour.”
After attending high school in Zelarino-Mestre (1958-1961), Renato moved to San Pietro in Vincoli for the year of novitiate. He made his first religious and missionary profession on October 3rd, 1962, in Parma.
Subsequently, young Renato went through the then standard curriculum: college (liceo classico) in Desio (1962-1963) and Tavernerio (1963-1965), propaedeutics in Parma (1965-1966), academic adviser (prefetto) in Guernica - Spain (1966-1967). From 1967 to 1971, he was in Parma to study theology; there, he made his perpetual profession (September 12th, 1968) and was ordained priest (September 27th, 1970).
At the completion of his theological studies, Fr. Renato was assigned to the Casa Apostolica (minor seminary) in Brescia where he would work as vice-rector, formator and academic director (1971-1978).
In 1978, he was assigned to North Brazil. He spent one year of language studies in Belém (1979), then worked in S. Félix do Xingu as assistant pastor of São Félix Parish, in pastorale indigenista (indigenous people ministry) and as coordinator of the pastoral team. From 1981 to 1983, he served as pastor of São Felix, in S. Félix do Xingu. During this period he took several courses in linguistics and anthropology. Following a period of study of the Kayapó language, he stayed in Kikretum, a Kayapó village, until 1986.
From 1987 to 1990, he was regional councillor for the Circumscription of North Brazil. In that period, he served also as regional coordinator for CIMI and the Pastorale Indigenista. In 1989, he took part in the XII General Chapter. From 1990 to 1993, he was vice regional superior of the Circumscription of North Brazil. Concurrently, he attended courses in missiology in São Paulo, Brazil. From 1992 to 1993, he worked in Altamira as coordinator of the Pastorale Indigenista.
From 1993 to 1995, he served as regional superior of the Circumscription of North Brazil and in 1995 took part in the XIII General Chapter, during which he was elected General Councillor as “Prefect for Personnel” and General Procurator. As part of his service in the General Direction, he carried out many visits to the confreres (North Brazil, Italy, the Philippines, Japan, South Brazil, Spain, Cameroon-Chad, U.S.A., China, Mozambique, U.K., and Mexico to take part in the XIV General Chapter in Guadalajara).
Upon completing his service in Rome, he offered his assistance to the Museum of Chinese Art and Ethnography in Parma. In 2002, he was assigned once again to the Circumscription of North Brazil where he worked as pastor of Redençao, PA, until 2008. Meanwhile, in 2007, he took part in the XV General Chapter.
In 2008, Fr. Renato joined the Circumscription of Italy where he was vice-rector of the Theologate in Parma. From 2008 to 2017, he was back to the Circumscription of North Brazil where he worked in the Pastorale Indigenista and as pastor in Redençao, PA (2008-2015).
Due to health issues, in 2015, Fr. Renato returned to Italy, to the Mother House. In 2017, he was assigned to the Italian Circumscription to receive medical care in the Mother House.
Consumed by illness, on April 8th, 2024, Fr. Renato went up to Heaven to contemplate the Glory of the Risen Christ and receive the reward of the good and faithful servant.

Only in light of the warmth and certainty that come from faith, from Revelation, do I repeat these words, “You filled my heart with joy, more than when their grain and new wine abound. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Psalm 4: 8-9).
