1936 - 2024
Giovedì 7 marzo 2024, alle ore 01.30 è deceduto nella Casa Madre, Parma – Italia, il nostro confratello p. Savio Corinaldesi. Aveva 87 anni compiuti, essendo nato il 9 dicembre 1936 nella frazione di Coppetella, comune di Jesi, Ancona.
Dopo le scuole elementari, il giovane Savio entra nel Seminario Vescovile di Jesi (Ancona) dove frequenta le scuole ginnasiali (1948-1953). In seguito, va nel Pontificio Seminario Regionale Pio XI di Fano (Pesaro) dove frequenta le scuole liceali (1953-1956), la propedeutica (1956-1957) e i primi due anni di teologia (1957-1959).
Nel 1959 Savio scrive di “aver scoperto la mia vocazione missionaria, al termine del Liceo, grazie ai contatti con vari missionari di passaggio, specialmente per opera del Comboniano p. Farè. Ero attratto anche dal fatto che uno dei miei compagni di Seminario, Delio Romagnoli, fosse entrato in Istituto …”. Per questo motivo, il 23.09.1959 Savio entra nella casa saveriana di San Pietro in Vincoli dove vive l’anno di noviziato.
Dopo la prima Professione religiosa e missionaria (emessa il 3 ottobre 1960), Savio va a Parma per concludere gli ultimi anni di Teologia (1960-1962). Qui riceve l’ordinazione presbiterale il 15 ottobre 1961.
Nel 1962 p. Savio viene destinato alla Circoscrizione Saveriana della Spagna, dove si dedica, particolarmente a Madrid, all’Animazione Missionaria, come visitatore dei Seminari e incaricato del giornalino “Misioneros Javerianos”. Si reca, ogni tanto, a Pozuelo per la Direzione Spirituale dei giovani in formazione. In questi anni di servizio emette la Professione Perpetua (03.10.1963) nel Castillo de Xavier, Navarra, Spagna.
Per un anno (1967-1968) è a Pozuelo, Spagna, come vicerettore.
Nel 1968 p. Savio viene destinato alla missione dell’Amazzonia (1968-1973). Vari i suoi servizi: pastorale parrocchiale e opere sociali a Abaetetuba (1969-1970), procuratore delle Missioni a Belém (1970-1972), Vice Superiore Regionale (1972-1973) e ministero ad Altamira (1973).
Nel 1973 p. Savio viene richiamato in Italia per il servizio di Animatore Missionario nello CSAM (Parma, 1973-1974) e di visitatore delle Pontificie Opere Missionarie nei Seminari (1974-1976), con residenza a Desio.
Nel 1976 p. Savio ritorna nuovamente in Amazzonia. In questa seconda tappa, svolge i seguenti incarichi: parroco di Rainha da Paz (isole), Abaetetuba (1976-1980), consigliere regionale (1978-1980), parroco di Moju (1980-1983), coordinatore della Pastorale Diocesana, ad Abaetetuba, risiedendo nel Seminario Minore (1981-1985), responsabile del “Centro Formazione Interculturale” a Brasilia (1985-1987).
Dal 1987 al 1989 è Superiore Regionale del Brasile Nord e allo stesso tempo svolge il servizio di Sotto Segretario della CNBB (Belém, 1987-1989). Partecipa a due Capitoli Generali (1983 e 1989).
Dopo qualche mese di ministero a Porto de Moz, nell’ottobre 1989 è nuovamente Coordinatore della Pastorale Diocesana (fino al 2001), pur risiedendo in diverse comunità.
Gode di brevi periodi di aggiornamento (1980, 1981, 1992) a Rio de Janeiro, ad Abaetetuba e a São Paulo, in diversi centri Pastorali come IBRADES, CEBI E SEPAC.
Dal 2000 al 2001 è anche viceparroco ad Altamira (Barrios Bras). Nel 2001 lavora nella Pastorale a Belém, nella comunità Saveriana di Giustizia e Pace. Nello stesso anno è viceparroco della parrocchia di Santa Maria a Tomé-Açu.
Dal 2002 al 2014 p. Savio è a Brasilia come Segretario Nazionale delle Pontificie Opere Missionarie.
Nel 2015, a motivo dei primi sintomi della malattia, viene destinato all’Italia, Casa Madre, per cure. Il 7 marzo 2024, p. Savio viene portato in Cielo per ricevere la ricompensa del servitore buono e fedele.

«Reverendissimo Padre, confortato dal consiglio del Direttore Spirituale ed incoraggiato dal parere favorevole del Reverendo Padre maestro, mi presento a Lei per chiedere di essere ammesso alla Professione Religiosa temporanea il giorno 3 ottobre.
Non le nascondo di aver esitato di fronte a questo passo la cui importanza, col trascorrere dei giorni, mi è apparsa sempre più grande; ora la decisione è presa ed il pensiero che, a guidarmi in essa, fu solo la ricerca della divina volontà, mi incoraggia a confidare nell’aiuto della Grazia.
Non è molto quello che do all’Istituto e, per esso, alla Chiesa; dando me stesso però mi conforta la considerazione che quel poco che offro è tutto quello che ho.
Spero che la presente domanda abbia esito positivo e che, accettandola, Lei interpreti il pensiero del Signore e la Sua volontà. Ad incoraggiamento per una sempre più totalitaria donazione al Signore, invoco da Lei, Reverendissimo Padre, la Santa Benedizione che mi ottenga dal Signore la Grazia della fedeltà ed agli impegni che mi assumerò con l’atto solenne del tre ottobre…Affettuosissimo in Gesù Cristo, Savio Corinaldesi» (Dalla domanda alla Prima Professione, San Pietro in Vincoli, 04-09-1969).

On Thursday, March 7th, 2024, at 1:30 a.m., our 87-year-old confrere Fr. Savio Corinaldesi passed away in the Mother House in Parma, Italy. He was born on December 9th, 1936, in the village of Coppetella, Jesi Township, Ancona Province, Italy.
After his elementary school graduation, young Savio entered the Diocesan Seminary of Jesi (Ancona, Italy) to attend middle school (or ginnasio, 1948-1953). Subsequently, he moved to the Pius XI Pontifical Regional Seminary in Fano (Pesaro) where he attended high school (liceo, 1953-1956) and the first two years of theological studies (1957-1959).
In 1959, Savio wrote: “I have discovered my missionary vocation towards the end of liceo, thanks to contacts with various visiting missionaries, especially through the Comboni Fr. Farè. I was captivated by the fact that Delio Romagnoli, one of my companions in the seminary, had joined the Institute...” This is why, on September 23rd, 1959, Savio entered the Xaverian house in San Pietro in Vincoli for the year of novitiate.
After his first religious and missionary profession (October 3rd, 1960), Savio went to Parma in order to complete the last years of theological studies (1960-1962). There he would be ordained priest on October 15th, 1961.
In 1962, Fr. Savio was assigned to the Xaverian circumscription of Spain, where he dedicated himself to the promotion of missionary awareness, especially in Madrid, by visiting seminaries and as the person in charge of the bulletin Misioneros Xaverianos. Occasionally, he would go to Pozuelo to offer spiritual direction to the young men in formation. During those years of service, he made his perpetual profession (October 3rd, 1963) at the Xavier Castle in Navara, Spain.
He then remained as vice-rector in Pozuelo, Spain, for one year (1967-1968).
In 1968, Fr. Savio was assigned to the Amazonian mission (1968-1973). He offered many types of service: parish ministry and social works in Abaetetuba (1969-1970), procurator of the missions in Belém (1970-1972), Vice Regional Superior (1972-1973) and ministry in Altamira (1973).
In 1973, Fr. Savio was called back to Italy for the services of Mission Awareness Promoter at CSAM (Parma, 1973-1974) and visitor of seminaries on behalf of the Pontifical Mission Societies (1974-1976) while residing in Desio, Milan.
In 1976, Fr. Savio was back to Amazon. During this second stage, he carried out the following tasks: parish priest of Rainha da Paz (islands), Abaetetuba (1976-1980); regional councillor (1978-1980); parish priest of Moju (1980-19893), coordinator of the Diocesan Pastoral work in Abatetetuba, while residing in the minor seminary (1981-1985); director of the Centre for Cross-cultural Formation in Brasilia (1985-1987).
From 1987 to 1989, he served as Regional Superior of Northern Brazil and, at the same time, carried out the task of Under Secretary of CNBB (Belém, 1987-1989). He also took part in two General Chapters (1983 and 1989).
After few months spent ministering in Porto de Moz, in October 1989 he was once again appointed Coordinator of the Diocesan Pastoral work (till 2001), even if residing in various communities.
He spent short periods of sabbatical (1980, 1981, 1992) in Rio de Janeiro, in Abaetetuba and in São Paulo, at various Pastoral Centres, such as IBRADES, CEBI and SEPAC.
From 2000 to 2001, he was also vice parish priest of Altamira (Barrios Bras). In 2001 he joined the pastoral work in Belém, in the Xaverian Community for Justice and Peace. Concurrently, he was vice parish priest in the parish of Santa Maria a Tomé-Açu.
Between 2002 and 2014, Fr. Savio was in Brasilia working as National Secretary of the Pontifical Mission Societies.
In 2015, at the appearance of the first symptoms of his disease, he was assigned to Italy for medical care at the Mother House. On March 7th, 2024, Fr. Savio was taken to Heaven to receive the recompense of the good and faithful servant.

I cannot hide from you my hesitation in taking this step that, with each passing day, appears increasingly important to me. Now the decision has been made and the thought that in making it I was led only by the search for God’s will encourages me to trust in the assistance of His Grace.
What I give to the Institute and, through it, to the Church is not very much; however, as I donate myself, I am comforted by the consideration that what little I offer is all I have.
I am looking forward to receiving a positive answer to my request and am confident that, by approving it, You will interpret the thoughts of the Lord and His will.
